"With a bold flex of their increasingly supple A&R muscle - here we see NYC's prodigal sons, and chief-scene servers - fire up the every-fan seater, Nervous learjet; for an exclusive musical jolly to the ever-evergreen shores of Ibiza.



And stepping up to the soundtrack plate - box-fresh and powder dry, in their maiden outing for the label - is one, Bora Uzer. A new name to many eyes and ears no doubt; but, to have been entrusted by such a discerning stable, to handle one of their flagship, Ibiza facing, Summer releases - leaves little doubt as to how talented and safe a pair of club-primed hands we’re talking here.



First up, we have - ˙Magic Kind˙ - a track that manages to be many things all-at-once, without the fussiness, pretensions or persona issues that often come in tow. It terms of club dynamics - it packs a brand, simply pitch-perfect and made-to-measure for the hallowed terraces of Ibiza; whilst the tone, approach and melodic character harnessed - manage perfectly to encapsulate, in one tight 6 minute morsel - that rare and singular kind of magic, only ever truly felt on a white-isle dance-floor. At its core is a steadfast and thickset rhythm section; through which an expansive, undulating bass-line flows freely throughout; whilst - adding that beatific, Balearic sparkle above - is an instrumental menagerie of free-roaming strings, wind and percussion.



Snapping at its heels on the flip meanwhile, is ˙Street Love˙; a track full of verve, that’s doused in that same lush, enveloping warmth, that much of classic era Detroitian House, so readily pedalled. With its bounding bass-line; stout, compact beats and rousing 808 snare rolls - it’s a far more heads-down and urgent affair than its sibling.



However, the gratifying technical glue binding both cuts together here, is firstly in the crisp staccato stabs that pepper each stave with a refreshing 'live-cut' looseness, and ad-hoc regularity; and secondly - via a loving hand - the way in which many of the sounds have been washed, ever so gently with delicate reverb and gating.



Aspects which, overall, only serve to further crystallise that air of sun-shocked, blue sky-cloaked romance… leaving you gagging to hear both numbers, in their rightful, Mediterranean club-setting this Summer, at the next given opportunity.”

Darius Syrossian & DJ Sneak go way back, & this collab came about when Sneak sent Darius a voice note on whatsapp about sending a new batch of productions. Syrossian decided to sample the voice note and make a track from it. Todd Edwards then subsequently heard this track and wanted to remix it. The end result is Moxy Muzik once again leading from the front with a new package that features three of the most notable artists in the underground.

Together the mighty pair cook up Big Bizness, a timeless track with heavy house drums and fat bass. It makes for a muscular groove that is topped with 90s style melodies that dart about the mix over drums that are dusty, deep and tinged with hints of US garage. It's a cut that cannot fail to make a mark.

Remixer Todd Edwards pioneered the early garage sound and has been a legend ever since. His masterful remix is a bouncing and swinging garage house cut with his signature chopped up vocal stabs and bright, feel good chords.

For most of my life, the only two Danes I knew were: GREAT Danes, those big dogs...and that big Danish goalkeeper. Then I started Djing all over and meeting lots of Danes. One of them was Tomas Barford, a genius, who makes so much good music I have trouble keeping track. He's involved in WHOMADEWHO, he is TOMBOY, and he does more solo stuff as well. When I got a demo CD I freaked out and tried to sign all the tracks.....and this first 12inch on Turbo is the fruit of my labour (or I guess HIS labour).

4 tracks of magic, groovy house music. Moody, building trance-house. Chopped up funk-disco. 

I could try, like an idiot, to write more things like :
funk-filled-groove-injected-modern-post-disco-house-bombs.... Or things like "aphex-twin shares a drum machine with etienne de crecy in a 70'd era duplex in chicago"

Or I could just tell you a story about how I was at a hotel gym in LA, minding my own business, playing these tracks on the "ghetto blaster", trying to decide which ones I liked best...when in walks......MICHAEL DOUGLAS!!!!! ....and after "grooving" for a few minutes tells me "this music is great, man"

Don't trust me....trust Michael Douglas: movie-star, oscar winner and SEX addict.....he LOVES Tomas Barford.

Ms. smooth SoCal soul meets Mr. NoCal dirtybird swagger and they have a baby together. That baby is Justin Jay and at 20 years old he is already making his 4th appearance on dirtybird. 

I have a feeling this is Justin Jay's breakout record. The A-side "Static" is at 118 BPM and will sweep you up then rip your pants off. But even when you get hit with the massive bassline, an old school anchor stays intact.  "Waves" B-side has a classic deep dirtybird feeling, with tuned 808's and a surprising melodic element showing off the sweeter side of this up and coming young gun. Justin Jay has more potential than anyone I've heard in a while and if he continues to play like he has been lately, he has a long DJ career ahead of him as well.
