With simple means and few ingredients, the danish composer, lyricist and singer Turid Guldin welcomes you into a world of musical delicacies with her upcoming debut album "The Kingdom". The album encompasses atmospheric sounds of raw guitar, dreamy analogue keyboards and cold electronic effects, offset with warm acoustic instruments. Guldin’s distinct, honeyed voice completes an overall musical expression running through every track, marking out The Kingdom as an album of variation within a satisfying and cohesive whole. Guldin’s background in electronica and jazz inform her work, with six published albums to date, from deep electronica group Mjük, to the all-embracing experimental band, Blood Sweat Drum + Bass. On The Kingdom, Guldin’s exploration of and love for different genres, especially her aptitude for combining both acoustic and electronic elements, shines through to considerable effect. This unique and luminous sound-world is brought to life by several stand-out musicians, who between them span the worlds of jazz, country, and classical music and who have worked with Under Byen, Slaraffenland, Kajsa Vala, and Islets of Dust.
