The four track EP features 3 original tracks from the Sheffield man with the fourth remixed by Lobster Theremin regular, ASOK. B-side opener, Lunatic Fringe, uses psychotic barrage of vocal loops layered with a thick, booty-bouncing bassline. ES-Q precisely applies rolling drum patterns, light percussions and uses multitude of synths seemingly eclipsing each other like planetary motion.

Liluzu’s "What Is Your Star Sign" EP, from burgeoning (dare we say hotly tipped?) label Kalahari Oyster Cult, is a release that tempts the use of a lazy journalistic lens. Here is the latest release from a label that, in a fashion true to its name, has been accruing a small-but-devout denomination of savvy followers since debuting two years ago with Jacy’s “Somewhere In The Tapes” EP. Over the course of 14 releases in that time, Cult, run by Amsterdam’s Colin Volvert, has managed to snag buzzy artists like Roza Terenzi and Urulu. It would be easy enough to pen a write up simply positioning this latest release, from a relatively unknown artist, as another part of the Kalahari story, and little more.Afterall, Liluzu (real name Lachlan McGeehan) has been to this point operating in decidedly “low-key” fashion--dropping occasional mixes on online outlets, managing two releases on his wax label Vulcan Venti, and playing sporadic gigs in the fertile Melbourne milieu that he inhabits.

Based on the strength of this EP, however, his profile may be about to rise.

@matt-whitehead serves up a hot slab of acid house goodness that is as authentically '80s as you can possibly get. With Solar Return EP, Bristol-based artist, Jon Chmielewski, who goes by the alias Zobol, continues to refine his space age-y, sci-fi leaning approach to dance music. Across three sprawling tracks, Zobol takes listeners on a voyage through distant, expansive, awe-inspiring soundscapes. 
	Opening track, “Rings of Saturn (Fading),” is a sonic portal into another dimension, one seemingly unbothered by the ordinary rules and logic of space and time. The track illustrates what it might feel like for one’s body, or a substance of some kind, to undergo a form of transmutation. Beginning with a skeletal kick-drum pattern, it quickly evolves with glistening synth arpeggios, atmospheric, reverberating keys, undulating bass, and squelchy acid hits. It’s almost as if the track takes on a life of its own as it continues mutating into a surprisingly graceful, multi-tiered organism with every new break. 
	Dropping on July 31st via Birmingham-based Erbium Records, this track is refreshingly organic and tuneful, while still retaining a mechanized, heady approach. While Zobol’s work here might not be exactly humanist, it certainly has a mercurial, exploratory quality to it that feels very much the work of someone who is tirelessly searching for new, inventive ways of synthesizing machine-made sounds for the dancefloor.
