After his last release on Dirt Crew in 2017 we are more than delighted to bring back the talented Harry Wolfman. With impressive records on labels like Phonica, Omena, Outplay and Toy Tonics in the last years he has drawn up a fine new selection of music that spans across many genres and moods. This is also the first release for us in the new year after a lil break and it continues to explore the more eclectic approach we are following for a while now since the outings of artists like Dampé, S3A and Dan Only.

Harry presents an exciting opener for his new EP, together with vocalist Christian Crow he has made the blissful and breaks laden “poppy” good feel tune “A Way You Come Home to Me” that shines a bright light in these darker months. Followed by the deeper club tune “Step by Step”, building around yet another vocal recording. This time it’s Harry sampling his own voice and looping it into a repetitive piece of good feel House music.

We are getting deeper on the B side with “Speaking Raman”, one of these signature Harry tunes, a playful dusty lo-fi piece of music build around a piano theme and embedded in deep bass and driving beats, his sound trademark on all of these more floor orientated tracks on the EP. To close out the record we added two of his cinematic, ambient electronica works that we personally love so much. The haunting “Always 3” is a deep sphere that sucks you in a meditational and soothing womb of sounds. Ending with the electroid cut “Green Trees”, it’s broken and fragile and gives this indie-tronica track a warm and gentle touch.

We hope you enjoy these tunes and that they may be your soundtrack to the upcoming warmer months.

Beautifully deep stuff from UK producer @markhand on his remix for @portable-aka-bodycode's 'The Transit Of Mercury' album rework package. Drenched in dreamy melody, it has shades of Larry Heard thanks to the combination of lush sounds and Portable's sultry vocals.

Bside Incoming: Tiptoes

The re-upload marks the 14th Bside brought to you since the start of Scottish quarantine, and provides another chance to find some fresh music as we take a journey through the record bag of Glasgow based producer and crate-digger TIPTOES. The whole episode is infused with the kind of deep rhythms, moody chord progressions, and jazzy interludes that you can be sure to expect from his productions:
Tiptoes popped up on our radar with his recent EP Rhythms & Solos, released on Nómada Records : The record label and jazzy collective featuring one of Bside’s favourite artists, Felipe Gordon. Safe to say we have a lot of time for his punchy remix of Tiptoes jazzy title track. (https://soundcloud.com/…/tiptoes-rhythms-solos-felipe-gordon).

But he’s long been a proponent of deep house grooves; his 2011 debut album (under his name Dominic Martin) ‘Family Affair’ on the highly respected LostMyDog record label thrust him onto the scene with some of his tracks being graced by the decks of Kerri Chandler, Milton Jackson, Eats Everything, Mosca, DJ Spinna, Mark Farina, DJ Sneak, and Maya Jane Coles. And in recent years he has also been pumping out some serious heaters under his current alias on Guesthouse USA, notably ’Steppin’ which has featured on an essential mix (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leaGfBUzX4w).

This Episode’s got it all; much loved classics from Soichi Terada and Kerri Chandler, hidden gems like ex-terrestrial’s downtempo electro, some wax magic with a Mr.G record at the ‘wrong speed’, a dose of rare salsa, and plenty of funk!

Lumberjacks In Hell draft in a sublime cast of sympathetic operators for a second volume of From Hell With Love, providing you with eight perfectly formed tracks that straddle the divide between cosy, home-friendly house and dancefloor delectation. Laville's moody vocal turn kicks the record off in style on Austin Ato's 'Control', while Waajeed works his broken beat magic on 'What You Know'. Elsewhere Detroit Swindle bring a tougher slant on soul-rooted house music to the table, while PBR Streetgang aim straight for your pleasure centre with the soaring 'Madame Z'. And that's just the half of it.
