In the last few years, I’m a Cliché’s Edit Service has established itself as constant source of quality edits for DJs and music lovers. The concept is very simple. Every two weeks or so, the label shares with the world an edit made by artists from its roster or producers it likes, ranging from Trevor Jackson to It's a Fine Line, from Young Marco to Marvin & Guy, from Bot'Ox to Crackboy...
 
On April 20th, the label releases a limited run EP with two new entries in the series. This is a vinyl only release, absolutely no digital!

RED AXES – Der Sexa

 An elegant synthetic groove where lush female vocals, a genuine bass guitar line and plucked strings of an oriental persuasion gradually make an appearance. A build-up leading to a fantastic breakdown from the original track kept intact before the edit kicks back in. A distinctive and catchy edit that bears the Israeli duo’s unique signature sound.

The duo from Tel Aviv are long partners of I'm a Cliché. Edit Service #2 or #29 are memorable edits of the series. They also released 5 eps with the label, and their first LP Ballad of the Ice in 2014.

ROUGE MECANIQUE – Cosi Cosi 

Ominous synths, spoken word and an atmosphere that conjures images of dystopian horror. A slow pulse of a beat that gradually picks up and funcky guitar licks: there’s light at the end of tunnel as the edit goes from dark to hedonistic. 10 blissful minutes crafted with class by French producer Roman Azzaro under his Rouge mécanique alias.

This edit is the first collaboration between the Berlin-based French producer and I'm a Cliché.

The noise rattled within the jungle. The green leaves bounced in time with the beat as nature sprung to life in the morning sunshine. The damp rose between the trees turning to steam in the heat of the morning glow as wildlife scattered between the beanstalks. The sky was a dreamy shade of pink but it would soon be blue, much like the waters which surrounded the tropical island. This was paradise and a place called home.

It is with much delight that we are able to premiere an exclusive new track from Superpitcher on Hippie Dance. Keep an eye out for more Hippie Dance affiliated content in the coming weeks. That's a hint.

The Golden Ravedays 05

PREMIERE: Superpitcher - Burkina [Hippie Dance]

The eighth piece of The Golden Ravedays puzzle will be released on Hippie Dance in August 2017. Number 8 of the series introduces two tracks that will take you to the far side of somewhere you’ve never been before. They are both reminiscent of outer space blues playing spooky games in a dust bowl.

Side A features Tuesday Paris Texas a tastefully arranged track with vintage sounds passing nonchalantly through a wild western aural landscape. The music is announced like a cowboy movie dual complete with bar doors swinging on rusty nails in slow motion. Mournful guitar strings swirl over a steady horseback galloping beat, expanding into a full-on-fire dance track. Halfway through a woman’s haunted voice appears and disappears like an eerie siren, a gunshot is fired (was that a gunshot?), a man whispers “what!?” Tuesday Paris Texas is in no hurry to give an answer.

Québécois producer The Mole (@moleofsoul) has long since been a purveyor of deliciously deep, textured and layered house music. With releases on Ostgut Ton, Slices Of Life, and Wagon Repair amongst others, he has undeniable pedigree. This title track from his new EP for @soundofvast is a loose and rolling affair, full of lazy bass, muted keys, snazzy samples and rolling percussion.

PREMIERE: The Mole - Potatoes And Beans [Sound Of Vast]

There was a prominent sense of urgency as the room began to fill with the dancers and skater types. They moved in amongst one another whilst weaving in time with the mysterious bang of the drum. This was a club rush and it would soon fill the very street outside itself as people congregated from far and wide. Those lucky enough to be inside would stay until the small hours and lose themselves beneath the bounce of percussion and the melodic euphoria which spiralled into the night. 

Hayes & Zeitgeist are set to release an EP on Moonshoe, a melodic affair with a distinguished hint of class and professionalism. This one is warm and a delight to the ears.

For ØEN Records 13th release, "En Anden" steps up with his debut EP release. En Anden is the output of the Copenhagen based DJ, Lazer (@lazert). Wanting to express a simplistic and naive sound, he has taken inspiration from Italo Disco's quirky synthesizer themes and 90's house tight drum and stripped-down productions. With the EP "Ting", En Anden perfects the subtle art of making tracks, where everything stand still, but is still evolving with small waves, connotations and intermissions. The EP is rounded off with a remix by local talent DJ Popup (@why_u_poppin) and released digitally with a limited edition poster made by TLS

Amidst all this COVID-19 chaos, we’re all in search of positive outlets.  How about one from Edinburgh hey..? The jolly Scotsman Telfort returns with his 4th EP (TLFT004), once again pressed with his very own TFLT emblem. Now if you know this chaps music, there’s a sense of precision about his records, seemingly every layer of every track mixed to perfection and this dose is no different. 

The B1 ‘It’s A Phase’ immediately stuck its chest out. An artfully repetitive house roller, made up of sharp percussion, laser-like keys and a reverberating dial tone on loop. There’s real texture in this record with rich synths that feel like the gift of flight and dense bass notes that inspire human movement. ‘It’s A Phase’  deliberately doesn’t reach any great crescendos, it coasts along with an understated authority, like all those who drive Teslas. 

Thus far, its just been Telfort pressing original material to TLFT. If I were a fortune teller, I’d say it won’t be too long before he invites other producers aboard his classy house bandwagon. Hop on and find a spare seat!

Toronto's Cosmic Resonance announces a new series of digital releases which will include maxi singles and shorter EPs. First up in the series is the Paulo Sinski Microband, a local T.O outfit that includes Paul Osinski himself and drummer/collaborator Hector Alonso. The duo started by performing several live shows together to great fanfare. This gave them the confidence to pursue their collaboration even further. Their goal is to continue to lift dance music out of traditional club venues and into a live stage setting.

Taking Paul's originals and re-crafting them together into more polished yet gritty, rave-ready slammers with live drums has been their M.O.. Thus far, the tracks have been hot and heady. The forthcoming PPE/LFO EP on Cosmic Resonance is no different.

Our premiere today is LFO, a cover of a track by the same name released in 1990 on Warp Records. The track wastes no time and jumps straight into the nitty gritty. The familiar bleeps from the original play over a beefed up and revised version of the bassline. The same pads are now seemingly much wider and take you deep into the late night dancefloor, becoming a focal point of the track. The drums add a crisp and polished feel to the whole composition. A modern version of a classic tune, this one easily does the original justice and in our opinion, even ups the ante. We only wish it were longer!

Keep an ear out for more music from the Paulo Sinski Microband and if you're in Toronto, be sure to hit up some of their live shows once we're able to enjoy live music again. In the meantime, dig into their discography and pre-order this record.
