Plan B Demo

Hero

This is the Plan B demo.  We planned on releasing this in 2004.

It's listed under Turnrow as the artist.

I'm listing this under a different name because I found out later there was already a band at some point called Plan B. We would have had to change the name if we signed a record deal. I'm using the name Turnrow for new music I'm working on but will keep the songs listed under 'Turnrow [presents Plan B]' as the artist and 'Plan B Demo' as the album.

I thought a lot back then and some over the years about what to write in the liner notes if we released the album, but it's hard to find the words or know where to begin. I will try, though. 

From roughly 2000 - 2004, Plan B was our band. We are from Southeast Arkansas (Hamburg, Monticello, and Crossett), and we had an unbelievably dedicated group of family,  friends, fans, and community in the area. I like to think we made some fans playing shows in other cities in Arkansas and Louisiana like Little Rock, Monroe, and other places.

We started out like most bands do, playing cover songs. Our reputation and popularity grew. We were writing too, but as we got better, we began to finish enough songs for a demo/album that we would be proud of. 

We never got to say this officially, but it was the intention. Thank you, Rich Moore and John D. for the advice, helping us run sound, and the privilege of playing music with y'all. Thank you, Mrs. Debbie, thank you for letting us practice at your house and the countless hours over those years that you put up with our noise anytime we practiced or wanted to work on something. Also, thank you to your neighbors for not calling in noise complaints on us (except once, but that was our fault playing really late preparing for a show). Thank you, all of our friends that went to the shows with us and helped us carry equipment and set everything up. Thank you to all our family, friends, fans, and everyone that believed in us.

We recorded this in a small studio in Hamburg. We did the whole recording in about 9 hours of studio time and basically did everything in one take. The intention was to do multiple takes to fix mistakes, and have it professionally produced, mixed, and mastered and release it as a an album. Our equipment was in the studio for about 6 months so we had to cancel and not book any upcoming shows, so we could complete it. 

We didn't have any band drama or anything like that. Real life, work, obligations, moving, etc, happened so we weren't able to continue playing and we never released the album. 

I got the raw recorded tracks from the studio when Colby and I retrieved our equipment. I recorded post-production stuff and overdubs in my bedroom studio.

I practiced production, mixing, and mastering over the years on our album. I call it a demo because I'm not a professional at these things and did the best I could with what I learned. It's not perfect, but I think it's good enough for a demo. I hope you enjoy it. We planned a 9 song original album and got to record 8 songs. (more of the recorded songs to come as I finish working on the production).

A lot of people believed in us and expected this album a long time ago. So, as a thank you to y'all, here is what we were working on and planning to release.
