Dan Curtin’s musical quest began in early 1990s Cleveland and continues today in Berlin, where the pioneering DJ and producer carries on defying conventions and pushing boundaries. 
Curtin’s discography dates back to 1992, with his first releases for Detroit’s 33RPM Records and Belgium’s Buzz Records. He soon inked his own production hub, Metamorphic Recordings. Curtin’s unwillingness to restrict himself to a singular style has been instrumental to releases like his albums Silicon Dawn, Web Of Life and Art & Science on Peacefrog Records, and work for further influential imprints such as Strictly Rhythm and Sublime. 



Now he’s elaborating hisimpressive discography yet again with an uplifting yet pumping EP for Turquoise Blue Recordings. A label that was founded to release house music that’s deep, groovy and underground.
Featuring 3 originals and oneAnalogue Cops Remix, it’s clear that Dan Curtin and Turquoise Blue Recordings make a good team.


TQR019V Dan Curtin - Selfish EP

Let us introduce our sister label....Zeal....Enthusiastic devotion to a cause, ideal, or goal. In our case devotion to deep, dubby, warm mirco grooves.

The label's first release comes from 'Monsieur Georget' which is an alternative alias for well-known French producer Chris Carrier, who many will recognise from his own label Adult Only Records, along with releases on other labels including Robsoul, One Records, OFF Recordings and Silver Network.

The release also features a remix from stellar German artist DeWalta, who along with a number of seminal releases on Meander, is a regular collaborator with Mike Shannon and boasts releases on other labels including Vakant, Haunt and Visionquest.

Track one titled “Le Village Flottant” is the first of the three originals on the release. Setting the tone of what’s to come, it has stripped back drums with delicate sprinkles of delay that are brought to life with a wonky lead synth and poignant piano stabs. The track fuses intricacy with dancefloor focused energy.

Second track called “Mecrant Des Oceans” has gliding synths that line the back of the mix whilst the morphing tones and subtle squelch of an acid line provides the momentum. Murky and mysterious, there's a metallic ring to the percussion and it’s a fine example of how less can often be so much more.

Third on the release is the DeWalta remix of “Le Village Flottant” and keeping the originals ride, he adds his own dub Techno influence. With new synth parts he cuts the already stripped drums to a bare minimum, which gives his added synths plenty of room to breathe and creates a captivating ambience.

Finishing the EP is the third original track titled “Picnic Dans Le Metro” and like the rest of this release, it twists and turns with rippling textures and deep atmospherics. Each drum hit is crafted with expert precision and every textured synth sound merges to create the perfect groove and mood.

Turquoise Blue Recordings was founded with a simple aim: releasing house music that is deep, sometimes dark but always groovy and underground. It is therefore no surprise the label is now releasing an EP by Finnish born producer, Phonogenic. 	
!With previous releases on 20:20 Vision,Turbo, Moodmusic and others,Tuomas Salmela aka Phonogenic has spent most of his recent time in the studio where he is preparing his forthcoming album. Despite this, he did find time to capture the true essence of Turquoise Blue with this brand new EP, bringing us three originals and a collaborative remix from Canadian producers The Mole and Hreno. 	
!The EP will be released as a limited edition180g baby blue coloured vinyl with a full colour sleeve on reverse board.

London’s Scott Kemp has been bubbling away in the underground scene of his home turf for quite some time now, racking up material on imprints such as Mobilee, Hypertone and Lowroom, delivering a contemporary sound infused with dubby aesthetics and dark, moody rhythms. Here Kemp joins the Turquoise Blue roster, another step towards greatness for the up and comer as he sits alongside Laura Jones, Droog, Adam Shelton and Djebali in the labels catalogue.

Kemp’s original mix of ‘302’ opens the single here, a dubby, groove-led number driven by loose, stripped back drums, simmering sub bass and echoing low-end tones. While a sweeping spoken-word vocal line in the drawn out breakdown, strips things back to generate impact as the tracks swings back into action with additional growling subs thrown into the mix.

Newcastle Upon Tyne (UK) based Turquoise Blue presents a very special release featuring four original tracks from non-other than Kostas Tassopoulos – better known to many as Ekkohaus.
For those unfamiliar with Turquoise Blue, the label has been causing quite a stir ever since its first release in 2011, featuring music from household names including Laura Jones, Kris Wadsworth, DJ W!LD and Djebali, among many others.
It was clear from early releases on heavyweight labels including
Morris Audio, 2020 Vision and Liebe Detail that this was a man with a big future but, to many, it was Ekkohaus' album release in May 2013 that defined him as a major
player in the game. Released by Matthias Tanzmann’s Moon Harbour Recordings, the album topped many a download chart and was a firm favourite with DJs around the globe.
This is a landmark release for Turquoise Blue, which started life as a digital only label but after starting to press vinyl in September 2012, the label has gone full circle with this, their debut vinyl-only release. A limited run of 300 will be pressed on heavyweight, clear marbled vinyl. Not only does this release sound incredible but it looks sublime and is as much a collector’s item as it is a DJ tool.
Although all four of the tracks are originals by the same artist, the EP is full of variation and a prime example of why Ekkohaus is rapidly becoming one of the most exciting names in electronic music.
Appropriately picked to be the EP’s opening track, 'Squared' is centred around a solid square wave bassline and the use of a simple but effective female vocal sample, which says “Hey” as a single word as if stating: “hey, I’m here mother f*cker why aren’t you dancing?”
After getting your attention the second track on the A side is 'Je Parle A Mor', which sticks to the same theme of using female vocal samples. This time in French and the sample's sophisticated tone is the perfect accompaniment to the understated analogue acid of the bassline. Stripped back and full of class, this track helps cleanse the pallet and bridge the varying styles on the release.
Track three, entitled 'Rough Case', is a classic example of Ekkohaus trade mark sound. The funk-infused baseline provides the energy, while the delay on the dubbed-out pad rattles round the track, making it feel like a cavernous space big enough to engulf any dance floor. Although marked as being the B side, such a solid deep house cut will no doubt have listeners questioning if it should in fact be a double A side.
Ekkohous saves the best for last when he presents 'Words On Plastic' as the grand finale. Simple but effective, the track focusses on a softly spoken but perfectly textured female vocal that’s blended with mellow synth stabs and gritty snare roles, all layered on top of a walking bassline that takes you on a toe- tapping stroll of delight.

Yamen & EDA - Parallel Minds

Born in Hong Kong and raised in Canada, Stuart Li ‘s interest in club music started as a teenager in the late 80's listening to Toronto's independent college radio stations (House, Hip Hop, Electro, RnB, Freestyle and even Reggae and Soca could usually be heard on the same show). By the early 90’s he was hanging out in the multicultural city's thriving after hours scene where DJs would be playing a cross section of house music from New York, Chicago, Detroit and Europe. Stuart grew up on a steady diet of music from labels such as Trax, DJ International, KMS, Nervous, Strictly Rhythm, &amp; Nu Groove. Working at the Cosmos Records store during the late 90's led Stuart to dig further into Disco, Jazz, soul, funk, Latin, Brazilian sounds. With this wide spectrum of interest in music, Stuart's strength as a DJ is his versatility. Depending on the night and the crowd, he can throw down funky Techno, jacking sounds, soulful and deep House, disco, and sometimes a combination of these. 

As with his Djing style, Stuart's productions can swing from lush and soulful melodic techno to jacking beats or smokey deep house (with hints of above aforementioned influences). He has released music on respected labels such as Philpot, Mathematics, Mule Electronic, Versatile, Ostgut Ton, New Kanada, and Creme Organization. Basic Soul Unit has been getting played and charted across a spectrum of music enthusiasts from deep house heads and techno aficionados. Li also has a number of acclaimed remixes under his belt for Dolly, Creme Organization, Hivern Discs.

For this mix we are eased in nice &amp; slow from the begging before the mix builds and builds into the unmistakeable raw grooves of BSU at his best......enjoy.

Turquoise Blue Recordings was founded with a simple aim: releasing house music that is deep, sometimes dark but always groovy and underground. It is therefore no surprise the label is now releasing an EP by Finnish born producer, Phonogenic. 	
!With previous releases on 20:20 Vision,Turbo, Moodmusic and others,Tuomas Salmela aka Phonogenic has spent most of his recent time in the studio where he is preparing his forthcoming album. Despite this, he did find time to capture the true essence of Turquoise Blue with this brand new EP, bringing us three originals and a collaborative remix from Canadian producers The Mole and Hreno. 	
!The EP will be released as a limited edition180g baby blue coloured vinyl with a full colour sleeve on reverse board.

Turquoise Blue Recordings is a new deep and tech house imprint from the North East of England and further cements the region’s passion for quality underground house music. Tom Ellis provides the label’s first release, with his two deep and percussive original tracks ‘You Shaped’ and ‘Oh Right’.  Three remixes feature a tripped out, bass heavy and looped version from Kris Wadsworth, a chunky and techy version by Arttu and a slower tempo deep rub with Nu Disco elements by Nick Turner.

Welsh producer Tom Ellis has been making a name for himself lately with music on Moon Harbour, Archipel, Minordust, Floppy Funk, 22 Digit and Logistic Records as well as his own Trimsound imprint.  DJs showing their support along the way include Franck Roger, Deepchild, Nils Neurnburg and Abyss.

Finnish producer Arttu (now based in Portugal) is the new name being used by Lump.  2011 has seen Arttu remix for 4Lux and release original material on Philpot.  As Lump, he has worked with a range of labels including Contexterior, Morris Audio and Rrygular.

Kris Wadsworth has been one of the most respected names in deep and tech house circles for several years thanks to his work with top drawer labels like Classic, NRK, Hypercolour, Get Physical and !K7.  The Detroit based artist also records as KW, Self Enemy and Detroit's Finest.

Middlesbrough’s Nick Turner had his first outings came on Newcastle label Citywest Records which formed a solid base for future work with Trendy Mullet and most recently on the uber-cool Sound Black Recordings, run by Lady Blacktronika.  Future productions will be released on Audio Parallax and Cityfly Records.

Tracks from this release have been RA charted by Deepchild, Huxley, Alland Byallo, Avatism, UGLH and Motorcitysoul.

Turquoise Blue Recordings swiftly follow up their debut release by Tom Ellis with another rapidly rising star of the UK deep and tech house scene: Ruthit.  The Manchester based producer adds to an impressive roster of labels, including murmur, Four:Twenty, Neurotraxx Deluxe, Fresh Meat and Baker Street, with three original tracks that explore deep bubbling acid, chunky heads down grooves and spaced-out trippy vibes. M A N I K, named DJ Mag’s ‘Hot To Watch 2011’ provides a trademark head nodding remix and French producer Boris Horel goes warm and blissful with grainy undertones.

Ruthit aka Carl Handley was born the North East of England but now resides in Manchester.  He learnt his DJ craft in Ibiza hosting intimate parties before attracting the attention of the Zoo Project who offered him a residency back in 2008. Appearances on a range of top house labels and collaborations with Carlos Sanchez & DJ Ray (8bit/Supernature), Kabuto & Kojo (Supernature/Get Physical/Area Remote), Dualton (Viva/Bedrock) and a remix for Darren Emerson’s artist album alongside X-Press 2 are establishing Ruthit as one to watch.

New Yorker M A N I K is one of the hottest names in deep and tech house right now, incorporating a wide range of style in his music stretching from disco and funk to acid and electronica.  His discography is a ‘who’s who’ of leading labels including Hot Creations, Culprit, Ovum (for whom he has released an album), Poker Flat, Dark Energy and Fresh Meat.  

Originally from Royan in France, Boris Horel now calls London his home and has become a well known player on the city’s music scene with residencies at ‘Foreign Muck’ (at the Key Club) and ‘Lets’ (at T Bar).  His music can be found on labels such as Adult Only (a collaboration with Dyed Soundorom), Supernature (a remix of Audiofly and original tracks remixed by Dan Ghenacia and Bearweasel), Time Has Changed and Eklo.

Ruthit - Deep Blue

Turquoise Blue Recordings follow up their highly rated previous two releases with Finnish producer Arttu and his 'Just This One Time' EP. The title track opens with some chunky French-inspired strutting house, while 'Soul Monk Funkker' and 'Stretch Yo Mind' add some main room tech house moods and acidic touches to the EP.

Remixes come courtesy of Alex Arnout who brings a mellower, late-night feel to his remix of 'Just This One Time'. Tom Ellis's successful debut EP for the Newcastle based label earns him a remix spot here with a tribal tech workout, making this a package sure to continue the big name support Turquoise Blue had already garnered from DJ's such as Clive Henry, Moodymanc, Motorcitysoul, Shur-I-Kan, Florian Kruse and more.

From DJ'ing in bars in Spain to releases alongside Bugz In The Attic and then onto establishing the Dogmatik imprint which launched the career of Maya Jane Coles, Alex Arnout (aka Ceramix, Da Lunartiktz, Dread Poets, Output) is a name many will know all about from his releases on his own label as well as Hot Waves, One, Vitalik and Fear Of Flying.

 Cosimo Colella , Carmine Mongelli and Fabio Liuzzi are a trio of DJs/producers coming from the city of Taranto, Italy

Cosimo Colella started his career as a dj in 2004, playing in some of the most influential clubs in Italy as well as doing work for and hosting radio shows in the country.

 It was in 2008 when Cosimo met up with Carmine Mongelli and
Fabio Liuzzi (alias flex), also two young djs and producers that they got there heads together and with a likeminded taste for music and positive attitude  They started the project called "Floska" created with the aim to make music of  the highest quality, experimenting with deep and electronic sounds and trying to combine new trends with old school sonority.

Following releases featuring Tom Ellis, Basic Soul Unit, Kris Wadsworth and Ruthit, Newcaslteʼs (UK) Turquoise Blue delivers the ʻSound-byteʼ EP from Dogmatik, Crosstown Rebels and Hot Creations stalwart, Alex Arnout.
From running underground parties in his native Sheffield to his Dogmatik label (a label which has unearthed many a talent, including Maya Jane Coles), Arnout is a veteran of house music and has pretty much done it all. His productions continually win strong support across those who matter and his engineering/collaborations with the likes of Clive Henry always deliver.
The ʻSound-Byteʼ EP from the affable London-Based producer sees him deliver sine-heavy, rounded and warm deep house in two original tracks, ʻGiveUʼ and ʻMovements in Soulʼ. 
The R&B licked vocal house of ʻMovements in Soulʼ is the last original of the EP and it shows why Arnout has been snapped up for Hot Creations in the past while the hotly tipped Laura Jones serves up an eerie, peak time version appropriately drenched in electronic soul.
This is a superb EP featuring some of the strongest names in house in one five track package.

Dan Styles, based on the south coast of England, is one of the most exciting British talents around. His genuine enthusiasm and love for the music can be heard through his productions and his unique style towards house music is winning him vast support around the world.

After release on a number of labels in 2011 including an EP on ‘It_Izz Recordings’ featuring a remix from ‘Max Chapman’ Dan plans to kick things up a notch in 2012 with EP’s coming on a number of well recognised labels including releases on ‘Purp & Soul’ & ‘Union Jack’ featuring high profile remixes from the likes of ‘Climbers’ & ‘Alex Arnout’.

Following up the superb recent EP from Alex Arnout, UK imprint Turquoise Blue look to rising star Cera Alba for their latest release, completing the package with remixes from Inxec vs Droog and Julien Sandre..
Cera Alba is a producer that you are going to be hearing a lot from in 2012. From his roots as a DJ playing at leading clubs such as The Warehouse, Sankeys & Mint Club he has taken the step into production and has a string of outstanding releases lined up for leading labels including Jamie Jones & Lee Foss’ Hot Creations, new label Illusion Recordings and of course the highly respected Turquoise Blue.
Newcastle based Turquoise Blue Recordings is still in it’s relative infancy, but with releases to date featuring the likes of Alex Arnout, Kris Wadsworth, Jef K & MANIK it’s clear the label means business.
This latest EP kicks off with title track ‘Save the Day’, a dark bass driven affair featuring tightly looped vocal samples and intense synth riffs that provide the bed for a soulful but edgy vocal, quality stuff.
Cera Alba’s latest single is another winner for the highly promising Turquoise Blue label.

Chicago House producer DJ Jes joins the Turquoise Blue roster this October with his four- track ‘Rhythm Method’ EP.

Born in Mexico but raised in the windy city, Chicago’s DJ Jes has long been a respected figure in raw, energetic house, holding a residency at the infamous ‘Warehouse’ which is credited with kick starting the global electronic music explosion back in the day, as well as releasing on the likes of NRK Sound Division, Siesta and Camouflage, it’s clear to see DJ Jes is an integral element to the history of House. It’s been over 3 years since the label released cuts featuring the likes of Dan Curtin, Phonogenic, The Mole & Hreno and The Analogues Cops. Here they make their return as Chicago House producer DJ Jes joins the Turquoise Blue roster with his four- track ‘Rhythm Method’ EP.

Kicking things off with ‘Losing You’, featuring low slung organic percussion, fluttering stab hits, airy chords and choppy vocal cuts before ‘Stella’s Scat’ lays focus on pulsating subs, dusty drum sounds and sweeping synths all flowing in unison to create a groove-driven seven and a half minutes.
‘Vuela Paloma’ follows next with a high-octane rhythm, hooky vocals and bright organ style synth licks ahead of closing cut ‘Come High Tonight’ which takes a more restrained approach rhythmically via phasing drums, soft dub chords and filtered synth lines to round out the package on a deeper tip.
DJ Jes’ ‘Rhythm Method’ EP is out on Turquoise Blue 8th October 2018.

Murky and mysterious, there's a metallic ring to the percussion and it’s a fine example of how less can often be so much more.

Dogmatik's Alex Arnout makes a stellar return to highly promising Turquoise Blue label this September with the 'Science Friction' EP.

Italian duo Howl Ensemble team up with Turquoise Blue to release four infectious cuts entitled ‘Be Punk As Fuck’ EP.

Italy’s Howl Ensemble – made up of Giovanni Verrina and Germano Ventura enrich a deep, effervescent production style concentrated on the freedom of expression and creativity. In addition to releasing music on Tour Records, Nilla and Infuse, the pair established their Howl Records imprint that embodies a philosophy of releasing dancefloor focused music contributed to by the likes of Dana Ruh, Bassa Clan, 100 Hz and more. Howl Ensemble’s ‘Be Punk As Fuck’ EP sees the duo join the Turquoise Blue family following the likes of DJ Jes, Dan Curtin, Phonogenic and Ekkohaus to name a few.

‘In An Age Of Cruelty’ begins proceedings with alleviating melodies, low-slung bass chords and raw, shuffling percussion before ‘Kindness’ deploys dynamic synth sweeps, rolling low-frequencies and effervescent rhythms maintaining a consistent energy throughout.
On the flip, an organic drum sequence fused with eccentric modulations and undulating deepness takes the focus in ‘Is Punk As Fuck’ until ‘Be Punk As Funk’ rounds things off with broken-beat rhythms and irresistible vocal flutters floating over sparse pad work and funk-infused bass grooves.

Staying true to the basic principles of House and Techno and not bowing down to the latest hype is something many DJs claim but rarely actually achieve. Dudley has built on the string of residencies across the Midlands and London after consolidating his reputation as a resident of the notorious Back To The Future parties. On the production front, Dudley’s reputation has rocketed in the short time since his first solo release on Nottingham’s Shrink Records. Noël Jackson is a DJ and producer living in Brooklyn born in Detroit. He is also the founder and A&R at Hypertone Records. 

Coming from a background in mastering and production, Noël has been intensely working on his own material for the past few years and perfecting his performance skills while playing alongside DJs including Kevin Saunderson, Mr. C, Three, Stacey Pullen and more.
