I mentioned previously that [016] would be the last mix of its kind for a while. here’s why:

the heart of this mix series has been the opportunity to share tracks that I love that I might not get to play out, while painting a story arc and traversing multiple genres along the way. during the last year however, I've also found that doing so in a 90-120- minute format feels a bit too cramped — so I decided to change things up a bit.

beginning this month, I'll be focusing each mix on fewer genres. my hope is that in doing so, it'll create more space to explore and build a longer vibe that doesn't feel quite as rushed.

since I still love traversing a wider set of genres, every so often, I'll be combining handpicked favorites from the focused mixes before with new finds, and create a longer mix that will still flow and feel plenty spacious.

for now, I hope you enjoy the first in this new format. listen for deeper, progressive vibes, starting out light, and building into darker, driving basslines before finally coming up for air with a melodic finish 🐢✌🏼

This is a set that almost didn't exist! We got all the way out to the trash fence before I figured out that I didn't have my laptop with me. But that wasn't going to stop me, so after a "quick" 4 mile bike ride to camp and back, I set up to play, and this is what came out. Following his single ’There Is Peace Beyond’, which saw support from Lane 8, Dosem, and Edu Imbernon, prodigious producer Nox Vahn (FKA Fairchild) now releases his double-cut 'Brainwasher / Walking With Giants’.

A standout track of Above & Beyond’s recent warm up set at ABGT350, with its foreboding spoken word verses and incomparably dark builds, ‘Brainwasher’ is set to be a DJ staple this winter. Described as “an ode to dance music, partying, and clubbing as a form of escape from the Brainwashers” (i.e. one's daily distractions), Nox Vahn’s latest captures the emotion of late night warehouse raves and foggy memories.

Similarly imbued with his characteristically ominous sound design, ‘Walking With Giants’ sees tribal toms bounce against drones and vocal chops, further illustrating why the the American DJ has garnered support from some of the biggest names in the dance music industry; Sander Van Doorn, Jonas Rathsman, Paul Oakenfold and BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong to name a few.
