A haunting pop track with New Beat and Synth Wave influences, Trance Deux* by Lyon-based producers and DJ Tushen Raï and Warum is a track between light and shadow, tense and vaporous at the same time. A dancefloor and electronic flirtation with 90s French Synth Pop, like a meeting between Ruth and Agar Agar, who would have invited Robert Görl of DAF (Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundschaft) to join them for dessert.
His new single on Cracki Records heralds the arrival of a future collaborative EP, on which Tushen Raï invites several artists with whom he has close ties.

A fixture in Mexico’s thriving electronic scene, the Argentinian import has made a name for himself alongside cohort Iñigo Vontier with a style that seamlessly blends haunted desert disco with gritty acid house and techno. 

This EP might be his most cogent formulation yet, a mightily playable set of peak-time DJ-friendly tracks that bring enough mystery and wonkiness to a perfectly club-ready backbone. It’s a conspiracy of sound, a cosmic abduction with pulsating rhythms and hypnotic bleeps sure to melt minds on the dance-floor.

Kasper Bjørke is finishing off another busy year, with a special treat in the form of Klint, a bouncy and dirty proto house jam that has been causing quite a stir on dancefloors all over, since the track was released as part of Kaspers Mini-LP Fountain of Youth this summer.

Now Klint is getting the single release it deserves, backed with some killer remixes from the Multi Culti crew and the Hivern Discs homeboy Marc Piñol.

The Multi Culti Mix (@multiculti) slows down the pace, making the whole instrumentation extra trippy.

Leng Records is kicking off its 2019 release program by offering a debut to a previously unheralded producer from Russia’s fast growing nu-disco underground. Given the quality of the two original tracks on show on his first Leng outing, something tells us that we’re going to be hearing much more from Moscow-based Takovoi in the months and years ahead.

On the A-side you’ll find “5-2-9”, an effortlessly dreamy and Balearic affair that ebbs, flows and slowly unfurls over six spellbinding minutes. The track is built around a chunky, acid style bassline and loose, delay-laden drum machine beats. Yet it’s the drifting and dubbed-out musical elements that cluster around the groove – leisurely keys, yearning trumpet solos and kaleidoscopic, arpeggio style synthesizer melodies – that make “5-2-9” such a magical piece of music. Think of it as a statement of intent.

Takovoi’s love of TB-303 style acid lines and mind-altering electronics comes to the fore on “The Fox With The Dog” which sees the up-and-coming producer give his take on the timeless electro sound. It’s as spacey and atmospheric as you’d expect, with exotic electronic refrains and glacial synthesizer lines dancing across the sound-space. The groove – a combination of punchy drum machine hits, heavy acid-style sub-bass, occasional bursts of hand percussion and breakbeats – is pleasingly heavy, too, making this particular electro excursion a bona fide dancefloor delight.

Takovoi - The Fox With The Dog

The second Keep on Wankin EP continues Hell Yeah label boss Marco’s on going quest for the perfect remixes. This time out he serves up the most Balearic Gabba influenced material yet and takes you on a trip to the clouds with Bjorn Torske and Fango both stepping up.

First up is Bjorn Torske’s take on everybody’s favourite Luminodisco tune ‘Oh Mary.’ It’s an impossibly adventurous 11 minute epic with buoyant chords dancing over trilling guitars. Lush, multi-layered and brimming with musicality, this is the sort of dubbed out yet percussively lively masterpiece that will mark the high point of any set as it washes over you time and time again.

Then it’s to Fango’s chunky and spaced out take on Somerville & Wilson’s ‘Yantar.’ It’s been the final track of all recent Fango sets around the world for a while now and that won’t change any time on thanks to the slow build to a colourful dub disco peak. It takes you ever higher on wandering lead synths as the fat drums pump away below.

Essential stuff.
