On the 7th of April 2023, I performed my first live song in an outdoor space. I had been envisioning performing live in interesting places for a couple of years and performing in Egypt was perfect. I had travelled to Egypt many times in the past, and it never failed to amaze me. I was staying in a quiet hotel opposite Habu Temple on the west bank of Luxor, and visited a site called the Ramesseum built in 13th century BC. Within the grounds lies a fallen statue of Rameses II, which would have been 19 metres tall, and is by far the biggest statue I have ever seen. I sat and contemplated the visual which teleported me into an atmosphere like the visuals created in scifi films like Blade Runner and Dune, where humans are made to look so tiny. 

Whilst in my awe, I was told about a poem Percy Bysshe Shelley wrote in 1818 called ‘Ozymandias’ (Ozymandias is the Greek name for Ramesses II).

I was speechless that, despite time, this statue could have influence and impact on people thousands of years later, and I could be inspired by it like someone 200 years ago was. 

I wrote a song called ‘In Time’ in 2022 for a collection of songs which is based in a dystopian world which is slowly crumbing away from pollution, fire, and political/social corruption. It explored the hope of the future, in which even if everything is destroyed, something will always continue surviving. 

During this time, a lot was changing in my life. In one way it created this immense positivity, in allowing life to flow and the possibility of the future, and on the other hand, showed me the anxiety I had to come face to face with. I felt like someone running down a hill, not being able to stop. It created this vulnerability and fearlessness in growing up, I still often feel this way. It was also written from a place of self-forgiveness, healing, and patience.

TUUDI is an electro-pop artist based in London who writes and produces music about existentialism, emotional journey, loneliness and more. Through atmospheric synths and layered vocals, the listener is taken into another world. TUUDI started singing at the age of 9 and began writing her own songs by 12. In 2019, she began producing music exploring her observations of the people around her, human nature and the relationship we have with each other and the world. She is currently working on the release of her first EP, FALLEN TONGUES.

Just Like Before (Live Hurtwood Forest)

Here is my live cover of Troye Sivan's One of Your Girls! I got up at 6am to go out into the desert by the Theban Hills in Luxor, Egypt, to film this cover. I set up and got half way through a performance when security was sent by an outpost in the mountains to stop me. They made me delete all footage, and luckily we didn't get into much trouble. So I then went looking for another place to film for FOUR HOURS, but each one was either in view of an outpost, too windy, or had street dogs madly guarding their territory. My friends, and I, had carried around a mirror, and drawers, and chairs around the desert and in the Theban Hills, repeatedly. So we ended up on the rooftop of a hotel, which was our last options. But this also didn't work. So just started crying. Embarrassing. So we decided to convince the security from the first place to let us film and eventually it worked! They took us to an even better location, and after my laptop crashing and numerous problems with camera's in the heat, I finally got a recording!

I want to say thank you to those who helped me, especially those helping whilst in Ramadan. Eid Mubarak to all those who celebrate!

London based Alt-pop artist TUUDI began writing songs on an old untuned piano at the age of 12. “While growing up, I was hideously quiet so making music was about giving myself a voice.” In 2020, she moved to explore her interest in production and sound engineering. Here she’s spent the last three years perfecting her craft and sound, to bring to her audience immersive storylines, with hints of electronic dance music, 80s synth pop, and dreamy ambiences. Influenced by the likes of AURORA, Lorde, BANKS, New Order and Bjork, TUUDI’s cinematic interpretation of pop music is filled with characteristics which cross the lines of genre boundaries and create an equally futuristic, and retrospective sound. Her first single, Just Like Before - a story about regret, betrayal, and conflict in the breakdown of a relationship, is due to be released on the 26th of January 2024.

TUUDI (Scarlett Ash-Ingley) is an alternative pop artist based in London, who crafts immersive storylines with a retrospective and futuristic sound. She invites listeners to explore complex characters with ethereal atmospheres, introspective lyricism, and haunting melodies.

Originally from Bedfordshire, she began writing songs on an old untuned piano at the age of 12. At 17, she started performing acoustically before turning to electronic-influenced alt pop under the name TUUDI in 2024. 

TUUDI’s most recent song, Old Car, was released in January 2025 alongside a music video featuring a Jaguar XJS. It follows a story about a seemingly fun situationship with a guy with an old car which gradually becomes filled with sadness and tension.
