Delving into the Depths

Odd Rotation is a different and site-specific presentation from Tan Cologne, centered in instrumental and ambient sound. At the end of summer 2022, the duo composed soundscapes of field recordings, live instrumentation, and organic sounds on site at Pescetrullo, an architectural art installation, in Puglia, Italy. With percussive recordings made inside a cement pool, rocks stacking, thunder, glass bottles, and insect behaviors, sounds were pieced together to form a sonic imprint of the multidimensional layers. The name Odd Rotation echos the behavior on site at Pescetrullo, examining motions of modern humans in ancient worlds, new art forms, and the natural living world.
