Everglades Amphibians In Three Acts

5 AM, still in the darkness of mid-March morning, a pair of tawny owls starts vocalising at their would-be nesting grounds. They are probably still in courting phase. Female was desperately calling all through previous evening and male repeatedly approached. In the morning, first thing they did was passionately-sounding lovemaking...  At least that is my interpretation of the audio  recording.

Plaintive loons call to each other as other water and song birds echo across Dore Lake around midnight in Northern Saskatchewan, Canada. Recorded May 2022 with pair Lom Usi Pro omnis AB stereo 24 inches apart on two tree trunks along lake shore, 32 bit float Zoom F3. Please correct bird IDs I'm not birder :)

Boreal Chorus Frogs begin by sounding each other out but quickly become a massive choir singing from marshy pond that's surrounded by forest. Recorded May 2022 at Dore Lake in Northern Saskatchewan, Canada. Pair Lom Usi Pro omnis AB stereo 32 bit float Zoom F3, six feet apart on two limbs of fallen tree, 18 inches above grass, later afternoon.

Boreal Chrous Frogs Saskatchewan

The bird song is already becoming more quiet as most birds are taking care of their nestlings this time of year. Even the Song Thrushes are quiet but they will start again in a few weeks' time when starting their second breeding period of the year. This droprig recording is from a small pond in the forest, 3 to 4AM. You will hear the forest birds waking up and Common Teal, Mallard and Green Sandpipers taking a morning sip in the pond. Dawn chorus in Burgh-Haamstede

From dusk to dawn with two pairs of cranes and one or two single male contenders. In this recording you will hear almost infrasound (80-200 Hz) growls and heavy panting as the males chase each other in the wetland and of course the trumpeting of cranes through the night. An amazing experience to be this close. Huddunge, Uppsala. April 9, 2024.

On a steamy summer Saturday morning, in the shade of tall trees at the Temple of Heaven, distant choral music drifts through buzzing locusts, chirping birds and chatter of Beijing park visitors, leading to nearly 100 person amateur choir practicing Chinese standards. Choir is singing "Beijing Carol" from 1971. Recorded in August 2017 in XY stereo with Audio Technica BP4025 and Sound Devices MixPre 3.
