Perfect Love (Feat. Sy Smith)

After ten years without writing a song, I wrote some lyrics dealing with racial justice and America's ongoing inability to face the sins of the past. The desire for many of us white people is to jump from 400 years of oppression violently imposed upon generations of people of color to some kind of colorblind harmony where all that bad stuff is suddenly forgotten and we're magically reconciled. Without owning up to the reality of what truly happened in our country's history, we cannot fully understand why the still-segregated present is the way that it is, let alone move toward honest equity that we can all celebrate, not just some. That frustrated lament is voiced in the lyrics to this song and backed by acoustic and electric guitars, bass, sampled drums, and heavy feedback.
