Slumber Session: My Nu Leng

Throughout his involvement in the heavily revered Skull Disco imprint and the birth of his own Apple Pips label, Laurie ‘Appleblim’ Osborne always seemed to represent his own thing to the fullest. It’s what’s always made him stand out as a character, as a producer and as a DJ – the fact that he simply does things that please him. So when he offered to make us a mixtape ahead of his appearance at the Roska Presents hosted Room One this Friday night, it’s safe to say we were pretty expectant. But what he did was use it as an opportunity to blend together a selection of records he purchased on a recent trip Stateside where he visited The Thing record store in Greenpoint Brooklyn.

Ta-ku and I hung out recently when he was in Los Angeles for a couple of days and were able to catch up on life, music, photography (shouts to Eric Coleman / Mochilla), eat tacos, sushi, chill with Esta, Carmack, Mike Gao and play music. I'll never forget this. Before we knew it Ta-ku did a 30 minute set and sat down with me to and talk about everything from his travels, latest business ventures, Artists Envy, Songs To Make Up To, his passion for Men's Grooming, Photography, and much more. Ta-ku is one of the realest and most down to earth people you'll ever meet, he's definitely family. &#13;

It's been a pleasure watching my good friend Esta progress into the artist he is today. I remember when I first met him he didn't say much but a few words and now he's one of the funniest people I know. The past few times he came on the show to drop a DJ set were brief and were never focused on him. This time it's all about him.

We sat down at the beach in Point Loma, San Diego at The Sunset Cliffs to talk about what's on his mind. He opened opened up what it's been like traveling the world, how his Boiler Room set changed a lot for him, his meme game, and when to expect his next album, and much more.

I also premiered a new single "Ends" from @iamjmsn's forthcoming 'Blue' album. We'll be back next week with another great guest! Spread this one to your people.
