Bells are awesome.

This is another 48-hour project I whipped up while on the road. I haven't delved into this genre much, so feedback is highly appreciated. This is a minimal Drum n' Bass remix of Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Enjoy.

Welcome to my second EP (first EP on SoundCloud [but who's counting]), DialUP. 

In this EP, I wanted to try bringing back the classic styles of electronic music from a decade ago and breathe some new life into them. Instead of the latest cutting-edge styles and themes, A large part of DialUP leans more toward the good ol' fashioned dance, drum'n'bass and wobbles of the 1990's and 2000's, while still retaining the energetic nature of modern music. One could think of it as a back-to-basics revisitation to the birthplace of modern EDM.

Making this EP has been a great adventure for me. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed constructing it. Kick back, relax for a while, have a good time.

I like to view this as a spiritual successor to one of my older songs, Zyzzx -- it's like that one but better. This genre is a heck of a lot of fun, so I may continue along these lines for a bit.

So I discovered the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney series, played the first game all the way through, and decided to remix the Cornered Theme. This is what (1) the game would sound like on the NES (2) What it would sound like on a modded pumped-up NES (3) What it would sound like if I'd composed the original. In that order. I used Bitcrusher on the orchestra hits and added them with Audacity. I made the pixel art as well. If you have a chiptune or pixel art request, I'd be happy to make it for you :D

Phoenix Wright Cornered Theme Remix (FT)

When a recent college assignment required me to create a live DJ mix using stems, I decided to take the opportunity to build a track from scratch. It was a great opportunity to introduce myself to the world of stem files, which I have now come to see as a fantastic way to give DJs and content creators more creative freedom in their craft. As such, this is the first music project of mine to come in stem file format, which I'm super-excited about! I rarely do progressive house either, so this was definitely an experimental project for me.

This project was a chance to not only work on a remix of one of my favorite artists’ new releases, but also to practice delivering a high-quality product by a set deadline. I had less than two weeks from start to finish in which to produce this track. In doing so, I followed my standard workflow for building remixes; listen to the original song once, wait a couple of days, then start chopping up the stems while building the song up around one of my original works-in-progress. I’m pretty pleased with how much work I was able to put into it while also working on college full-time; unfortunately, it wasn’t until today – about two months later – that I found the time to put together its release!

I got the idea to make this one on a whim while playing Mario Kart 7. Waluigi Pinball is my favorite course in the whole game, with some of the best music to go along with it. I started and finished this in about 24 hours. Questions? Leave a comment!

A brief chronology of my musical ventures: I have been playing the piano since 2005, experimenting with original compositions since 2011, making chiptunes since 2012, and using Ableton for EDM since December of 2012. I am also self-taught on the harmonica. I have been alive since February 1998.

I use Ableton Live 10 for my usual electronic tracks, and FamiTracker for chiptunes. I am also familiar with Reason, MilkyTracker, and Pro Tools. Preferred plug-ins include Massive and Absynth. I make every effort to build all of my songs from scratch.
