Nothing as exciting as presenting a new project and a debut album all at once, this time from Ozric Tentacles’ Hungarian drummer Balázs Szende a.k.a. RasaSound and ‘Beginnings’ “where strings and drums meet samples and synths in a unique psychedelic union”.

Drawing inspiration from bands such as Ozric Tentacles, Shpongle and Ott, acclaimed drummer, Balázs Szende began his passion project six years ago.

After two years of experimenting, which resulted in a 4-track EP, RasaSound was put on the back burner when Balázs was invited play drums for one of his favourite bands, UK psychedelic giant, Ozric Tentacles.

Since then he’s played hundreds of gigs with the Ozrics, across over Europe and the US, where the band is now based, playing in front of thousands of people including iconic festival dates, like Glastonbury, Boomtown and O.Z.O.R.A.

But Balázs was always drawn back to his labour of love, and in 2014, between tours, he started working on RasaSound again, creating the tracks, recording and mixing the 45-minute album – including five new songs plus three from the original EP. The album, appropriately titled, Beginnings, will be released in 2016.

Balázs said: “I had a lot of help from people to make this album happen, so I’d like to thank you all – Viktor, Oli, Roland, Levi, Ivy, Tamas, Gyuri, Ozrics, Jasper (Fruit Salad Lights), Barry and my family. I hope this music can bring a little sunshine into people’s lives.”

RASASOUND – Beginnings | Album Presentation | 18/11/2016

The real vagabond (dub, digital, stepper, hiphop, reggae, drum n bass and etc) Hungarian producer HabooDuBz a.k.a. Polaak (a.k.a. TakTikTeknikZ as the Ozorian crowd met him last summer in the Chill Dome) just released the 3rd edition of Fried Rize Dub album series. Just like exactly one year before, he mixed the new tracks especially for radiOzora listeners.

“Music became important for me when I was about 10 years old. Later when I was about 12-13, I was a skater and used to listen to punk, hardcore and rap music like Biohazard, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, Cypress Hill, Rancid and etc… In my teenager years went out to HipHop events and smaller punk concerts. I wrote my first verses when I was maybe 16.
Then I started visiting few Drum and Bass events in Budapest. Something happened to me during these underground events because I absolutely stuck on them.
Those new basses and drums made me extremely excited and enthusiastic, so immediately started writing faster verses for these rhythms.
I met to Kontrol Art Del crew (Mango, Sumah, Mok) at one DnB event and actually didn’t want to believe that I heard and saw. Three MCs on the microphones rap on the dirtiest DnB tunes. They were the first MCs in Hungary who were rapping on DnB !

I took the liberty to jump on the stage and grab that mic and rap my own verses. Unexpectedly they liked it and we became friends. All these things happened in an old underground cellar club that called Jailhouse. Believe it or not, the Hungarian underground scene was proper and quality.

I became member of the first Hungarian DnB Label called Subscope Records after couple of years as MC.

I was really interested in composing musics, so I bought a kind of strong computer and also started making musics like HipHop, DnB and New Skool Breaks. Dj Mango has founded the Gimmeshot crew in 1998. After few years I also joined to the crew as MC and later also as producer. Step by step we organised proper underground parties with Djs, MCs and producers, occasionally with some live musicians as well. Gimmeshot party became the most popular and busiest HipHop event in Budapest around 2004 – 2005 supplemented by reggae and dancehall style, break dancers and graffiti artists. We also invited famous artists from abroad and toured them around. These years were the golden ages for Gimmeshot. MC Sena of Gimmeshot released her first album called First One in 2004 and I made a tune for her called Drama.

Then I left Hungary in about end of 2006 I guess, and I moved to the UK. First to East England then to Manchester where I was able to play my live acts at different clubs. My productions had been supplemented by also dubstep just before this genre became too popular, mainstream and commercial.
Then I moved to London and continued building my carrier. Unfortunately I lost basically everything in the next year because I was a victim of burglary. But thanks for my mates I was able to start everything very soon again. I made many remixes, some musics for short movies and instrumentals for different rappers and singers.

I moved to Cambodia in 2012 and tried to continue my life in an absolutely different environment. Further on my french mate called MC Kaztet Dee also moved to Cambodia and founded Wat a Gwaan that we call Phnom Penh’s Reggae Sound System. WaG spreads reggae, dub, dnb, and hiphop music in Cambodia. In the summer of 2014 we went for a very busy tour around Hungary with the powerful Dub Phase Sound System alongside Robur Sound System. Dan Dada Records released my first stepper EP (Fried Rize Dubz Vol 1) in 2014.

Nowadays I work mostly in dub, stepper and digital style.

Hedflux is the main music project of Scottish-born DJ/Producer Steve Young.
A life-long electronic music enthusiast, Steve has been spinning in clubs and festivals since before he was legally allowed to enter them. Starting out in the early 90s golden era of rave, he went from old-school breaks to nu-skool breaks via happy hardcore and drum & bass, spending all his money on turntables, mixers and vinyl while changing his DJ name more often than his underwear.

In the early naughties, he developed a naughty relationship with psychedelic trance. Inspired by its smooth curves, other-worldly atmospheres, and an unrivalled ability to produce kaleidoscopic visions in the 3rd eye, he endeavoured to step up his production game and synthesize the ultimate heady dance music hybrid: psychedelic breaks!

The debut Hedflux track "Music Is My Weapon" was released in 2008 and this set the archetypal template for the next 5 years of music, during which time he released more than 30 records and performed across the UK, Europe, Australia and America.
