Since bursting onto the scene in 2011 on such esteemed labels as Ram and even on Goldie’s Fabric Live 58 album, Xtrah has been setting speakers ablaze across the land. With his music being dropped by the likes of Kasra, Hype, Friction and Andy C it isn’t surprising he’s ended up here at camp Critical’s Modulations imprint with what’s without doubt another major step in the career of the young Londoner.
Teaming up with MC Codebreaker for ‘Set The Levels’, Xtrah brings the lights down low for a creeping piece of hi-fi future funk. Cinematic soundscapes draw us into the intro as the crunching break drives on with Codebreaker’s low slung lyrical flows running over the top of deep sub and jerking mid-range flourishes. Expertly executed for another quality slice of Modulations music.
As we move on ‘Regain Control’ aims to take us back into some proper break and bass territory with incredible vibes reminiscent of earlier Bristol beats. A squelching b-line, drifting pads and heavily fat syncopated drums that roll out in fine fashion to the end...that’s all you need really. Impressive stuff indeed Mr. Xtrah!

Hybris & Rido - The Thing

Revolution Recordings return for the New Year with two brand new tracks from Ukrainian producers Sunchase and Nickbee.  First up on the release is the epic ‘Life Simulator’.  Ghostly atmospherics and resonating Sitars alongside some tribal percussion establishes the tone.  When this one drops, it drops hard.  Deep, low end sub bass combined with twisted, raw sounding leads are the key characteristics here, optimized for a unique journey into the deeper side of Drum and Bass. 
Next up we have ‘Full HD’ with its dreamy laidback introduction and spine tingling vocals all build to a crescendo of hard hitting Kicks, Snares and warped Bass lines.  It is clear to see Sunchase and Nickbee are not only extremely gifted producers but both are at the cutting edge of modern day Electronic music.  Seriously head nodding stuff!  A must for anyone who likes their D&B that little bit deeper.
