Following releases from label heads Dusky and Christian Piers, 17 Steps returns with an awaited label debut from Velvit (Darren White) that offers both forward-thinking club sounds and leftfield sonics. 

Co-opting the dark, technical style that Darren has long practised as drum & bass legend dBridge, lead track 'Be So Cruel' adds a fresh perspective on house and techno forms that instantly stood out from the pack. 

Blending dark grooves and sinister mechanics with Darren's own soulful vocals, 'Be So Cruel' has been heavily anticipated ever since it featured in Dusky's Resident Advisor mix last year.

Featuring the vocals of his brother Steve Spacek, 'No Excuses' is a stripped soul roller with dense rhythms and mad jazz moments that works as both meditative headphone trip and experimental dancefloor moment. 

Completing a diverse triple header, 'South Of 01Your Soul' takes things down a futuristic electro vibe with dark sci-fi cinematics battling it out with body-popping beats and Darren's distinctive cyborg soul vocals.

'Sweet' is a scarily-infectious house jam. It's got a sumptuous R&B sample rotating throughout and when coupled with a killer groove and the damn mischievous percussion, you've got a contender for one of the best tracks of the year. Lovely stuff.

Slated for a vinyl only release initially, Dusky invite Hodge and Jerome Hill to remix the rolling techno of “Parakeet Feet’ from their recent ‘Ordinary World EP’.

Part of the Livity Sound collective, Bristol’s Hodge has been responsible for some of the most fresh and leftfield UK techno excursions in the past year or so. Focussing on the original’s ‘talk to me’ sample, Hodge drops a dark, twisted techno banger in his unique style.

On the flip, underground legend Jerome Hill cranks out a raw, ravey acid house work out that builds and builds with a dynamic surge of screaming, layered 303s.

PAWSA jokingly asserts that, had he not chosen music as a career, he would have moved to Botswana to become a big cat expert at a wildlife reserve.

Embracing the world of house & techno seems to have been the right decision. This was clearly illustrated by a strong debut EP on Lost Records that reached number 6 on the Beatport Tech House charts. With further appearances on pioneering labels such as Relief and Deep Tech Records there is no doubt that PAWSA is making a far-reaching impact on the musical landscape.

The London-based cat finds himself inspired by the late nights/ early mornings spent at his favorite locations in London, Berlin and Ibiza. PAWSA highly values his own dedicated following of established producers and DJ’s who show full support of his analogue, yet contemporary sound.

PAWSA has a quixotic approach to the art of DJing, cultivated by many years of regularly playing out. He strongly believes in creating a special atmosphere to connect the listeners. Somewhat old fashioned in his approach to mixing, PAWSA humbly hopes that his sets never fail to leave a powerful lasting impression.
