I've always liked Marina and the Diamonds. There is something about her voice that is so sultry and captivating . So with this edit, I wanted to have her voice be the centerpiece backed with ominous leads and bass swipes, all mounted on a  big room/house base. Imagine being in an underground rave and the only light in the place is the strobe light that's sidechained to the kick drum. Everything starts moving at half speed while the song continues in it's trance-like pace.  Thanks for listening and enjoy the rest of your day :D

Another track that I've been putting together was one that I made last night. Originally, I wanted to do something with Deftones for the Pillowtalk EP, something drifty and entrancing. However, after placing some of the earlier samples in the arrangement and throwing some delay on them, it became apparent that I was going to revert to a higher energy based vibe-track, which later felt appropriate given the song/band. While I was working at Stryker, I had met a young individual who went by the moniker of ReeReeHB. We ended up drafting up a rough version of this song and I immediately knew it was going on the 'Pillowtalk' EP. After hearing the track, Ryan Baldon ( one part of Social Lubricant) also later jumped on board and rounded out the rest of the instrumental!

Thanks bruv, means a lot. I actually started out on FL years ago. I would say the best way to learn is just to educate yourself on the basics. Read the forums, soak up knowledge. A great source is the production bible available on Dubstepforum.com.

Also, writing music requires patience and understanding. The best way to gain understanding about your synths and sound design is to just play around with them, trying different things and learning what each knob does. It won't sound very good at first but once you have a good grasp on what you are doing, you will be able to fine tune the sound and shape it how you like. I think that this can't be taught very easily though, it has to be learned and the only way to learn it is to do it, a lot.
