You could probably say that Miami based hip-hop artist Two-Side, was bred for a career in music. Or maybe you can stretch it out a bit, and say that he was assembled at an elaborate state of the art, questionably legal underground laboratory of some kind. The culprits? Mom and Dad. Mom, an alto gospel choir singer and dad a popular DJ that played all over the Caribbean unknowingly wired Two-Side Poleon to do what he does; to be who he is.

"I was 4 years old when I knew music was my calling. I tried to convince my dad to teach me how to use his equipment, but he would tell me I was too young. It took some time, but I finally cracked him when I turned 7. That was my first lesson in persistence"

Becoming a DJ as a child, Virgin Islands-born Two-Side learned not only how powerful music is, but understood the relationship that exists between a performer and an audience. But he wanted more. He not only wanted to use music as a tool to connect with people, but to actually create the music. This evolution led him to not only become a skilled producer,songwriter, and rapper, but to pick up an instrument along the way. Weapon of choice? The tuba. That would certainly explain the elaborate horn sections in some of his productions, such as in his feel good and inspiring song "Moonlight And Stars", as well as in his other musical works which put on display his percussive prowess and diverse musical palette afforded to him by his record spinning beginnings.

As a vocalist however is where he truly sets himself apart, not only for his skills as a wordsmith, but also for the texture, color, and distinct sound of his voice, words rarely used to describe a rapper. Proof positive of his broad musical influences.

"Hip-hop isn't just music, hip-hop is what I am. But my influences when it comes to rap, or music in general are pretty mixed across the board; from rappers, to producers and musicians of all types have had an effect on me. You can't really hear many of them in what I do, it's more about the feeling and inspiration that I get from them." 

Artists like Notorious B.I.G., Timbaland, Bob Marley, Micheal Jackson, Nas, Barry White, Elton John, Luther Vandross, Dr.Dre to name a few, have had a hand in the development of Two-Side as a multifaceted, multi layered musician. But his greatest inspiration comes from an entirely different place, removed from music altogether. 

A sense of responsibility, and purpose was woven into him at an early age. Of five sons his parents had, he is the only one left. With the self imposed title of cross bearer for his family, he chose to make music the foundation of his life, and to use it as the means to channel the broad spectrum of human emotion. "The effect music has on the soul of a human being...there's just nothing like it, both to express and communicate, or to take in and connect. For most people, it's the only way to really share their human experience, or find a bunch of people that feel like they do. I love the process".
