With everything that is going on at the moment with my life in general, i have been struggling to create music that really bangs, and i realised the problem is that i'm forcing an emotion that's not there into a song, when really... i should be creating what comes naturally, and this is the whole concept of the song, i haven't got time for everything that's going on, i can't stick to deadlines because all i do is work... All day long.

Bootiful, rumbling bit of Speed Garage dropping just in time for Summer courtesy of Mangoes + Melons favourite - Sekt 87. The track has piano stabs reminiscent of early rave tracks and a sneaky little M1 Organ taking us back to the late 90s and early 00s when Organ House ruled the dance floors in some of the Northern nightclubs.

First release by Sekt 87 on the label and it certainly won't be the last. Look out for a vinyl EP dropping from him on Mangoes + Melons.

SUNDAY STEPPER SOCIETY SESSION 002 - MAHJONG WITH THE AUNTIES

After a few months of lockdown. The Sunday Stepper Society in the DimSumDistrict opens it's doors again for their weekly Mahjong sessions. We had an opportunity to speak to a small handful of these happy 'aunties' who haven't had a chance to play for a while. With one of the aunties saying "The over 2000 year old game is timeless and generation - bringing me closer and more curious about my Chinese heritage." Also an activity that has brought communities together according to another Auntie.

To provide the sunday energy influenced rhythms for these amazing and strong women are 5 artists that we have been amazed by. Big Up Alfredo Romero, Cooke, Donny Rotten, EYRA and Luke Hazell for helping us execute this idea with tracks of different styles. All showing appreciation of the tunes at the downtempo and more mellow end of the spectrum of steppy riddims.
