This is a set I put together earlier this year which was meant to be played this summer at 230pm on the beach stage at The Pachena Bay Festival on Saturday. Due to what seemed to be an unfortunate surge from the generator, my USB hub got fried, and therefore I was unable to connect my laptop to my mixer. I was heartbroken. Thankfully I had some of the most important people in my life around me to keep me from a complete breakdown. 

After many attempts to get things to work, the decision was made to play on CDJs, through an external HD, which didn’t have the music for this set on it, so I had to quickly improvise. The set went well, people loved it, but I was left extremely frustrated and discouraged. 

In the 30 years I’ve been playing music, I’ve honestly never put so much time, effort and emotion into building a set as I have this one. After the unfortunate events, I vowed I’d never play this anywhere other than the setting is was meant for, but my amazing Estelle 💖 talked me into making this my first studio recording in almost 8 years, and I’m happy she did.

For the first time ever, I’ve recorded and made available online what I call “Blunt Force Therapy”—a glimpse of my deeper, darker explorations into techno. This is the sound I’m known for, but until now, I’ve typically only unleashed it at after-hours or underground events.

Recently, some friends at Mind Garden organized a late-night event to push their new sound system to its limits and asked me to let loose. The energy we experienced that night—between the crowd and the music—was both cathartic and inspiring. It felt like a true release for everyone, myself included.

In this re-recording, I’ve captured that same energy, using the exact setlist, as a thank-you to all the friends and fans who keep showing up to dance, release, and have fun. It’s also a return to my techno roots: pounding kicks, rolling sub-bass, acid bleeps, and organic percussive grooves driving forward like a steam engine. Primal vocal shots and deep atmospheric textures remind me why I fell in love with warehouse raves in the first place.

I hope you feel that same raw intensity and collective healing when you listen.

Emerging from the serene landscapes of Canada's West Coast, Uallas (formerly known as Tybur) crafts Techno and House music that seamlessly blends organic warmth with the pulsating energy of synthetic warehouse beats. With a Bachelor of Arts in Music Production & Sound Engineering from Point Blank Music School and Middlesex University, Uallas merges professional expertise with a deeply personal artistic vision.

Since his debut with "Break the Cycle" on iq140 Records in 2016, Uallas has built a compelling discography, including "Umbrarum Imperii" on Berlin’s MFM Records, the "Temple EP" on his own BYS Music Canada label, and the acclaimed single "Hypomania," which resonated widely on SoundCloud.
