	Podcast Introduction: Hello everybody, my name is Tyler Phillips and I will be your host for this lovely little podcast. My discussion today will not necessarily be a discussion, but more of a story, let’s kick it off, shall we?

	Introduction to Story: A long time ago, no, not in a galaxy far, far away (Star Wars quote.)  But, it was actually in the same galaxy. In fact, it was right here on planet Earth, just in a different state. In fact, this isn’t even a fictional story, just a story about a kid, myself, who grew up to learn and love music.  Also, about how one single person inspired me to follow a dream career in music, and gave me the knowledge of music as a child, and of course my favorite memory of this person.

Topic Discussion:  Growing up I fortunately had someone like a grandfather there for me to support me in life after my actual grandfather had passed away. His name was Nicholas “Nick” Lattari, He was my grandmother’s boyfriend, and yes you heard that correctly, her boyfriend. He was a pretty great DJ, often played at school Proms, Clubs, and Charity Events. But, he was more known as a DJ who played for older men, and women and was pretty well known as Nick-@-Nite by a lot of those who attended. Now, your probably wondering why I keep using the term “Was’ whenever I refer to Nick, and I’ll tell you why, but you’ll just have to keep listening to my story here.

In fact, it was right here on planet Earth, just in a different state. This is going to be a story about how I fell in love with music, and my favorite memory of someone who means the world to me.

Topic Discussion:  Growing up I fortunately had someone like a grandfather there for me to support me in life after my actual grandfather had passed away. I said earlier that this is just a story about how I fell in love with music, and my favorite memory of someone who means the world to me.  But, this is not just any story, but it is one of the most memorable stories for me, and also it is my grandmothers favorite so let me tell you all about it, because it is a story she tells whenever she talks of Nick. Now, lets get to it, shall we? 

Story:  When I was just a boy, about 7 or 8, I would go and help Nick DJ certain events, basically on weekends because I had school the next morning and absolutely dreaded awakening in the morning for school, but come on, what child didn’t? So, there I was helping Nick out at an event, where are my manners? It was a high school dance back in Philadelphia. Now, I was very excited because they were older than me, and I still knew exactly what they wanted to hear! (Laugh) So, there we were, Nick and I, playing an event together and having a good time, when suddenly Nick decided to take a seat, and sit this event out. Not because he was tired or anything, but because he just didn’t know what the kid’s were requesting! (Laugh) So time flies by working by myself, and I finally decide to look back and ask Nick if he would like to take back over, and when I look back there he is, slouched in a chair and is passed out sleeping! So being a nice little kid that I was, I decided to continue to let him sleep it off, and continue working by myself. Finally, my grandmother comes to pick me up from the gig and take me home, because it is indeed a Sunday night. And when she gets there to her surprise, Nick was passed out sleeping, and I was DJing, and working the equipment all by myself.

Ending: Now, sure, that may not have seemed like a funny story, or even situation for a kid my age, at the time, to be in, but, it is our favorite memory of Nick. Growing up Nick continued to inspire me through music so much that I ended up joining a band, and touring a good amount with some of my closest friends. Nick supported me so much that he invested in me and bought me a good majority of my equipment; he would also continuously give me CDs to listen to, and learn about new music. Now earlier in the podcast I said I would tell you all why I kept using the term “Was”, and here it is, in April of this year, Nick passed away from a sudden tragic event. I won’t go into detail, and get emotional, but what I will say is that getting ready to play a gig hurt him and took him off of this Earth, and away from everyone who loved and cared dearly for him. After that, I will admit that I lost my musical endeavors, and wasn’t sure what was next for me in my life. But, I do know that I wanted to continue my dreams in having a career in the Music Industry, and that is exactly what I am doing with my life.  I’m ready to learn more about the Business side of Music, sure I’ve been in a band for 3 years, did some recording myself, and even toured a bit, and experienced many new and wonderful things. Not everyone gets lucky to be a signed artist and to play music for a living, and I figured if I was not able to do that, then I would find another way to be in the Music Industry. Coming to Florida I have the full strength, and the integrity to work hard and do everything I can in my power to do great in my endeavors, and make everyone in my family proud.  I was never the best student, but now its time to show everyone what I am made of, and especially it’s time to make Nick proud of me, and happy that I am following a career in the Music Business. I know that if he was still around, he would have been highly upset that I moved away from home in Philadelphia, but I’m a hundred percent he would have supported me, and helped me with everything and anything that I needed down here. Well, now I will not end this on a movie quote such as my Star Wars one in the beginning of this Podcast, but what I will say is this…. Thank you for listening to my story, and I hoped you enjoyed the music played, which is by the band I was in called Ghosts and Androids. I hope you had a wonderful time, and okay maybe I lied about the whole no movie quoting thing but in light of Anchorman 2 coming out recently….“Stay Classy….
