At ten years of age, Tyler received a small Casio keyboard as a Christmas present after insisting to his parents that it was the one thing he wanted. He soon became obsessed with musical exploration, creating simple songs and playing them for his family. He was hooked and there was no going back.

Eight years later, with little clue of the world of professional music, his first band, The Straw Theory, were discovered by veteran producer Billy Smiley and were signed to KMG records. He and his band were thrilled for the opportunity to have established artists like Steve Hindalong, Andy Prickett, Marc Byrd, and Leigh Nash (Sixpence None the Richer) contribute to their debut album and to have the unique production team of Billy Smiley and Terry Taylor at the helm (Taylor having been Tyler’s greatest musical influence). After a whirlwind time of recording, press and touring, however, The Straw Theory found themselves as an industry ‘hard to define’ act, despite winning over audiences with their live show. Although they had some success with radio in the U.S. and the U.K, they were considered niche and their label had little clue what to do with them. Tyler opted to called the band quits and found himself completely uninvolved in the world of professional music.

Years later, Tyler reemerged on the scene with his band, NovaLux. Their first and only record, ‘Young’, was produced by Steve Hindalong and engineered by Derri Daugherty. Because it was an aside to the regular careers of it’s members, NovaLux never gave itself the attention it needed to make the jump from a serious hobby to a professional working band and, after a few years, realizing that Tyler wanted more than the band could offer, they mutually decided to bring that chapter to a close.

More recently, Tyler has relocated to Nashville, where the whirlwind first started. Tyler continues to write and perform and has just wrapped up production on his flagship EP, 'The Long Shadow', released earlier this year.
