The word “journey” gets tossed around a lot in the world of dance music. When I wrote Voken Rai, I took that concept as literally as possible. Starting with an arpeggiated strobe like melody, I placed my fingers on the Moog Sub37 and introduced the pulsating bassline in to the soundscape. The song quickly became more of a performance rather than something programmed. As the bassline opens up during the intro, atmospheric elements help to lift the song to a crescendo of harmony and awakened senses. The earth-like kick drum eases its way in to the mix, commanding attention and teasing what’s to come.  I wanted the drums and other percussive elements to be prominent yet mystical, serving a purpose to help drive the experience along. I performed the top line melody again on the Sub37, with splashes of reverb helping to push things in to a deep meditative atmosphere. As the song breaks free for a moment, a tease of the final stage to come appears before quickly washing away in to a wall of sound. At this point even I was hypnotized by what was happening. As an artist you sometimes reach a point with your creation where it feels as though it’s become a living thing all on its own. The final passage of the song incorporates a playful and commanding percussive melody which evolves back in to a wash of coloured atmosphere. The initial melody appears again and returns us to a familiar place, easing us softly back to the present moment.

Something truly magical happened for me with this song, I remember every moment when I was writing it. It was more than a flow-state; it was a translation of the divine creative energy coming out of me in to a pure musical form.

I'm closing out what has been an incredible year with this soul-warming single. Showcasing a lush atmosphere and tender melodies, "Inner Gift" represents the source of strength and life force that comes from within each of us. It’s a symbol for acceptance and finding the silver lining, maintaining the will to push on, and the agreement with oneself to consciously move towards happiness.

Premiere: Tyler Mesa - Gaia's Dream [Amulanga]

The atmosphere, the energy, and the spirit were simply perfection. Playing at Camp Summerdaze was the highlight of my summer. Overwhelmed by the amount of friends that were there and new connections that were made. The disconnect from the craziness of life and the opportunity to play my true sound healed my soul. Incredibly grateful for this experience and I hope you enjoy the set as much as I enjoyed playing it.

As the first track being released under my new Tyler Mesa alias, Emanate serves as the entry in to a new phase of my music career. There’s one word that can best describe this track: theme. The goal was for it to have a certain depth beyond being just a “song”; for it to be thought provoking for listeners and to invoke inspiration in them.

I drew a lot of inspiration for this song from the movie Blade Runner 2049. This film dives in to the exploration of what it means to be human through themes of morality, identity, and the human soul. I wanted this song to capture the essence of the film through sound and hit a variety of emotional marks along the way.

Emanate is meant to showcase what my fans can expect to hear from my upcoming music in terms of musicality and depth.

At 9:00 minutes, it's a slow burn of interplaying melodies with multiple elements to groove on. What Lies Beyond is a special one for me, and I hope will be for you as well. Dance music is really about the journey the music takes you on, and how it helps you to connect to yourself and those around you. Those ideas provided the creative direction for this track. I encourage you and whoever you may be with to take a moment, press play, and just focus on the sounds and progression - get lost in it and enjoy the ride.

What is it that attracts us to electronic music? It’s the warmth of the bass, the groove of the drums, the hypnotic melodies and lush soundscapes, but also how it helps us to connect. Connect to the sound, to each other, and to ourselves. That’s what drives him forward. He creates music to inspire connection, and puts his heart and soul in to all of his productions and sets. Since first being exposed to Trance music in the early 2000’s with labels like Anjunabeats, A State of Trance, and In Search Of Sunrise, he began soaking up as much dance music as he could. A few years later he discovered a more “techy” sound – labels like Cocoon Recordings, Hot Creations, and Crosstown Rebels were a huge influence. Naturally, his love for these two styles of music along with lots of experimentation along the way, slowly began fusing together to create his own distinct sound. 

He has performed at a variety of clubs such as Era, City at Night and Flybar in Ottawa, and Circus, Newspeak, and Nhau bar in Montreal. His releases over the years span a multitude of genres – from Trance and Psytrance to Techno, Progressive House, and Organic House. Tyler Mesa is the next phase in his music career, having spent the prior 10 years under the “Tydal” alias. A new beginning so to speak, representing the culmination of tireless dedication and experimentation until finding a sound that truly resonated.
