Personally wasn't a huge fan of Katy Perry until I watched The Interview back in the day when it was 'Released'

I already had a track I didn't know what to do with vocal wise. It was too happy. But then after hearing throughout the film, I couldn't help but fall in love with it.

I found an acapella, had a feeling to throw it in this angry yet happy dance track I had created after trying several different sessions. 

It worked, I changed the key a bit, and threw on some whack reverb on Katy's Voice. Mistake in hindsight, but eh, it's still fun if you're enlightened. It was really the vocals and lyrics of Katy's song that pulled me in to make this song.

It was like, well. What if for this pop song, instead of doing happy music, I'd do it in a different light; make it as filthy as possible.

The combination was stellar, but I did want to make it filthier. I adjusted the synth sounds and then just decided to start sound designing the synth sounds from scratch in Operator through Ableton Live. None of the presets I had scanned through at the time could produce the sound I wanted.

I swapped out the drum samples I had used previously, made a new drum rack in Ableton, and programmed the rest.

I mixed and mastered this reinterpretation, then shot it over to LANDR who did the final Mastering.

Tyler Spyder creates Neo Industrial, Progressive Electronic Rock, EDM, IBM, and Ambient music.

While most listener's can't define his genre, they describe it as Cinematic, Heartbreaking, and Authentic. 

Spyder blends his Poetry, Lyrics, and love of Film Making and Music together; creating a unique, noisy, distorted, and reverberated and raw chaotic Sound.
(There's also some heavy Space Cadet and Psychedelic Vibes thrown in there)

He creates music to inspire others like his influences and musical peers have, had, and still inspire him.

His lyrics are what you perceive or believe them to be.

He had his song, "Death, Stranding" released on Mojoheadz Records, July 29th, 2022.

He's currently working on his next single and album for PML Records.

Tyler was conceived at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah while his father studied Film Making.

After his parents divorced at age 2, Tyler briefly lived with his grandparents in Maryland for 6 months, and then relocated with his father to Utah, while his father put his Film Degree to work. 

While Tyler had no interest in making music at the time, he loved listening to it for hours on end. Tyler's father often educated him on music history, song interpretations, and facts about the bands he introduced him to when they worked together at his CD/VHS/Data Disc Duplication Business. 

"We would sit in the basement office, in this 12x12 room, the walls lined with VCRs, hot as hell. But while we'd wait for the tapes to finish recording, he'd drop the strict religious bullshit act, and start playing Nine Inch Nails, Filter, and The Prodigy on iTunes. The first songs he showed me from them were Breathe, Firestarter, Terrible Lie, Head Like A Hole, I'm Afraid of Americans, and Hey Man, Nice Shot. But As a kid, we would go on car rides and listen to The Cure, Depeche Mode, The Smiths and Oingo Boingo along with The Nightmare Before Christmas OST by Danny Elfman."

Around his early teens, Spyder was introduced to Gorillaz, Blur, Daft Punk, Ozzy Osbourne, and A Perfect Circle; changing the way he saw the world, listened to music, and wrote lyrics.

"It's peculiar to recollect back to the year 2001, I started listening to all this new music. You can only listen to Enya, U2, and Britney Spears for so long before something breaks. It was around 2001, and I had recorded the Toonami Midnight Run Music Video Special on a VHS tape to watch the next day, since I couldn't stay up past midnight. What I saw the next day fractured my reality in a beautiful way. The first music videos I watched were from Daft Punk's Discovery Album, the first four songs ya know? 

And then Gorillaz came next. I didn't know who they were, but I had this fearful fascination with zombies, and the moment 2-D (Damon Albarn) comes in with the vocal melody, and the George Romero Reference pops up on the screen, and then Murdoc's evil cackle; the introduction of the Animated Band and their performance to follow, I was hooked. They were so interesting to me in ways I won't get into at this time; that's a story for another night, but the Animator behind this new found Magick, Jamie Hewlett, had truly created something beautiful and I lost my fucking mind over it.

I had so many questions: I'd never heard this type of music, who is this Del The Funky Homosapien, Who's the genius behind this madness? Why is the bass player getting his nuts smashed by a fucking Gorilla? But I loved the music, the animation, the vocals, the collaborations, and it lead me into discovering Blur, (Same vocalist from Gorillaz), and got obsessed with their self titled album. It was definitely some strange news from another star; and I fucking loved it.

Then TOOL came up next, and again; never heard of them, and "Sober" comes on, completely terrifies me 'cos Maynard is singing about Jesus Fucking Whistling and Mother Mary Whispering, just look up the lyrics.

I was terrified as I grew up in this insane religious environment, and I was scared I would get grounded, and banished to my room, To 'Think about what I had done. How I once again, disappointed God; and should seriously consider praying and repenting.' 

It really fucked with me. Still does. What I'm getting at is seeing the music video for "Sober," and later hearing "Judith" by A Perfect Circle a few years later on X96, planted a seed of growth in my deranged and angsty little head, and opened my mind in a way that I briefly found Solace in denouncing religion, god, and anything to do with that cult bullshit at age 14. That didn't end well at all. 

My point is, Music is something beautiful; it changes you, for better or worse. It's something that gives me a reason to exist. And to wrap this up, I held onto that VHS and would repeatedly watch it, with the TV volume set to 3. 

Eventually my little bootleg VHS recording of those sentimental Music Videos was found, all Hell broke loose. It was then re-recorded over. Fuck, I miss that tape, at least there's YouTube." - Tyler Spyder
