Making a long-awaited reemergence after a four-year hiatus, G-Type’s esteemed jump-up label Type G Audio returns this July with “Kaiser”, the colossal new single from fresh signing Jaydan.

A prestigious institution in the drum and bass scene since its inception in 2010, Type G Audio has welcomed an all-star cohort of talent into its ranks in previous years, with the likes of Konichi , Decimal Bass (Annix), Modified Motion , KG , Cabbie , Ironlung ,and many more contributing to the label’s formidable back catalogue.

An equally titanic addition to the roster, seasoned Leicester DJ/producer and Smokin’ Riddims founder Jaydan is on top form with his label debut “Kaiser”. Commencing with plinking synth arpeggios and echoing sweeps, the track soon snaps into a gnarly frenzy of shrieking basslines, gravelly stabs and bellowing 808s. Underscored by stuttering grooves and crunchy drum work, it’s a characteristically rowdy number, and a premium cut for both Jaydan fans and loyal followers of Type G Audio alike. “Kaiser” lands 8 July exclusively via Beatport and Spotify, reaching an expansive range of digital service providers a fortnight later on 22 July 2021.

Now back in full swing following their whopping comeback last month with Jaydan’s new single “Kaiser”, Type G Audio keep their foot on the gas with a pair of raucous remixes of Glitch City’s “Everything is Fine” and “The Curse of Atreus”—released in their original incarnations five years ago under the Brighton beatmaker’s former alias, Samy Nicks.

First up, revisiting his very own production, Glitch City opts for a thunderous take on “Everything is Fine”, with brassy stabs and boisterous snares piercing through the mix bearing all the hallmarks of top-quality jump-up. Retaining the song’s distinctive bluesy sample and metallic sound design, he stays true to his 2016 formula while carefully crafting a new arrangement primed for dancefloor mania. Fast-rising Cambridge producer and Subway Soundz affiliate Gino, meanwhile, supplies a novel spin on the clattering techstep weapon “The Curse of Atreus”, transforming it into a punchy jump-up affair synonymous with the Type G sound.

This new drop lands at an exciting time for the South East drum and bass stalwart, whose recent releases have seen him hand-picked by the likes of Viper Recordings, ProgRAM and Get Hype to deliver genre-straddling D&B heaters. Having increasingly upped his recent output on his own imprint, Amusement Audio, his return to G-Type’s Type G Audio comes as a welcome surprise, marking his first appearance on the label since 2017.

Next up on the recently revived drum and bass colossus Type G Audio, Leicester legend Jaydan resurfaces for the second time this year with a sweltering new interpretation of Brian Brainstorm’s 2017 heater “Lock Off” featuring fresh vocals from seasoned MC Havok.

Having amassed a diverse back catalogue including coveted appearances on Drumsound & Bassline Smith’s Technique Recordings, Serial Killaz’ eponymous label and the omnipresent Jungle Cakes, Cologne producer Brain Brainstorm has himself enjoyed a monumental release cycle in recent months, joining forces with jungle-adjacent lynchpins including Born On Road co-founder Aries and iconic ragga lyricist Daddy Freddy in the past few months alone.

Jaydan, meanwhile, has tens of thousands of streams to his name, but is just as celebrated for spearheading the renowned label Smokin’ Riddims. Also affiliated with some of the most famed institutions in jump-up including Playaz, Low Down Deep and G13, the indelible talent is a bona fide veteran of the scene, yet is nonetheless no stranger to other varieties of drum and bass, with this latest offering defying easy categorisation or pigeonholing.

The result of the pair’s eye-catching link-up is a full-throttle race through clinking, metallic synths and blaring, foghorn-esque basslines, leaning into the sound adored by fans right now. With Havok’s rave-ready lyrics segueing into gritty, yet streamlined climaxes, it’s a dramatic departure from the original mix’s wonky grooves and mottled basslines, its lean, vocal-led arrangement no doubt a sure-fire recipe for dancefloor satisfaction.

Type G Audio welcomes drum and bass veteran Rowney to the label. 

Over the past 15 years, Rowney has landed himself a reputation for hard-hitting and straightforward jump up with releases as a solo artist and as part of Standard Procedure on labels including Shadow Demon Records, Subway Soundz, and his own imprint, G13 Records. His latest outing consists of two cuts which are sonically characteristic of both the label and the producer.

The lead track, Crazy, commences with an ambient introduction. Vocoded pads, delayed ad-libbed vocal melodies, and subby descending 808s capture the technical and futuristic feel of early drum and bass within a contemporary setting. This atmospheric calm is swept away by a short drum fill, vinyl brake effect, and the eponymic vocal line. Crazy drops into a scatty call and response pattern between fuzzy and squelchy basslines, underpinned by Rowney’s signature high-energy drums.

In contrast, Straight Murda takes no prisoners from the get-go. An eerie chime melody and full-on drums set the tone for a meaty piece of tearout jump up. After the haunting resampled sound effects in the introduction descend in pitch, a rude ragga vocal cuts through the mix before a shotgun cocking sound heralds the arrival of the drop. Timeless jump up influences abound as Rowney makes use of various basses inspired by different eras of the subgenre, accompanied by the continuation of heavy and steppy drums.

Overall, Rowney presents two tracks which are sure to appeal to all generations of jump up heads.

Starting with the lead track Couch Potato, AKAS blends the cool intro with the essence of a rising build-up using some nice crunchy drums that t roll into a mass murder drop, accompanied with a variation of warm sweeping basslines. This track is sure to make a DJ’s mix blend nice and provide a real vibe for many dance floors across the world.

Now it's the turn of Monotype, a producer and DJ who’s found success with Double UV Recordings and
Young Guns Recordings as well as Type G. His music has been supported by the likes of Logan D, Highroller,

Monotype provides The Killer, remixed by Modified Motion
and Faction. The transatlantic production duo have swiftly
become one of the go-to names for the UK underground,
their sound always brings out the best in everything they
touch. Monotype, Modified Motion and Faction and Type G
Audio truly is a Killer combination.
The tune begins in dramatic fashion, with an orchestral
sample slowly building, before the beats start skyrocketing
in. The remixers have taken the tune and added their own
touches, without it losing anything from the original. They
add layers of flavour, teasing out elements which
otherwise'd be missed.
The drop is massive, revealing echoing bass and mighty low end frequencies. The tune builds again, with
lots of work being done in the background, as MM & F let it all hang out. Headnodding kicks and layers of
funk dominate, as we're in for another surprise soon. After a brief lift, the cataclysmic second drop occurs.
This one's even more furious as the first, with sharpened drums and even harder bass.

Based in Wolverhampton, Hyde UK is no stranger to nasty beats and grimy basslines. Alongside Type G-Audio stalwart Monotype, who's notorious for cleverly distorted sonic bass, their collaborative effort is unstoppable. ‘World of Dub' is reggae infused slab of bass, coming forward on a lumbering melody, before slowly building itself up and dragging you into its snapping jaws. The intro begins to fade, before jungle breaks roll into life, hitting harder and harder with every beat segment. Quaking bass adds to its weightiness, whilst percussion skits build layer upon layer. Clicking, metallic drums underpin the composition, presenting you with a dancefloor number that would ignite any crowd. Ragga-like vocals sift in between the mix, creating the type of atmosphere implied at by the EP's title.

Since 2010, Brian Brainstorm has stood at the
helm of Cologne's drum & bass scene, a
resident DJ who played alongside some of the
scene's biggest artists. With a powerful
repertoire of jump up, old school and new
school jungle flavours, his sound has been
amassing crowds since he began playing out. And it was after this point that he decided to turn his hand at
production, crafting solid basslines and smashing drums to help accompany his already ferocious sets. The
arc of suspense was what made Brian Brainstorm's music so alluring and he's been snapped up by the likes
of imprints Roll The Drums Recordings, Lion Dub International, Technique Recordings, Fine Beats Audio
and Digital Roots Recordings on his previous releases, providing the perfect platform for a burgeoning
career.
As a result, he's been supported by some of the scene's biggest names. These include Etherwood, TC,
Annie Nightingale and Document One during radio airplay on the infamous BBC Radio stations, further
pushing his music into every corner. Since his humble beginnings, he's also played out at notorious music
festivals such as ‘Nature One' and ‘Fusion', where he debuted brand new cuts, similar to his latest offering
on Type G Audio.
Coming out first is ‘Ready For This', a sonic
slapper that grinds into life through flickering
beats and stabs of bass. Gradually it builds,
before throwing you into an antagonistic,
rolling bassline. Brainstorm tosses in extraterrestrial
atmospherics, adding a more
sneaking blow than its driving rhythm. From
start to finish, you're allowed no respite,
pulling you in with every drum relay and
metallic kick. The producer demonstrates why
his sets are so revered, especially when lined
by tracks such as ‘Ready For This'.

Lock Off' brings out Brainstorm's nastier side, with crunching, distorted bass and elevating pitch notes
taking you deep into the mix. Each segment acts like another rung on the ladder, getting higher and higher
with every relay of beats. A steppy riddim that takes no prisoners, it's a full frontal assault on the aural
senses, once again proving his worth. Brainstorm is back in the New Year and he's better than ever. If this
