Notes and stuff:
- The bulk of this song was written in about 6 hours. I received a request to write something at about 3PM and finished a full draft at 10PM.
- This is my first song that uses Kontakt, a plugin that runs sample libraries that literally all of my friends have owned for years.
- This is also the first song I've written in a good while where I'm genuinely excited about the result. I hope you also like it

I was not ready for this track. I was not ready.

This track was made for the tenth CHIPS competition. CHIPS is a weekly contest in which members anonymously post entries made along a certain theme and vote on other entries. It's a small-scale competition that emphasizes positive feedback and thonking memes. The tenth compo's theme was "Dreams", and I tried to capture that through the sight of a dragon ascending to a floating island.

For real, I started making this thing in full expectations for it to either flop or be very average in quality. But then I kept going... and it was like the track was a train and I had just been hit by it at full speed. And I guess you could say the flight inside of me took me up there.

A journey in the Aeolian mode. It parallels my previous piece Peaks in a number of ways, but also takes its own liberties and style. It also contains a reference to a pretty notable Pokemon Mystery Dungeon theme somewhere in there. this was an incredibly fun collab! Stardew knows how to make all the chord stacks and intense mastering stuff and like when they sent me back the flp with their part on it the colors were puke-inducing it was great

anyway this is a 36-hour journey of an aeriel nomad travelling the skies on a lavender air balloon. it's got the ABA structure to it but we just had a ton of ideas so that's why it's 8 minutes :P hope you like it! also follow Stardew, they're gonna go places

"Woodfire" is track one of the Sky Wander EP, an electronic-orchestral story-based album conveying the journey of an ether explorer through the clouds.

Functioning as the opener to the album, "Woodfire" instills an immediate off-kilter sensation in its listeners, making known the existence of an amorphous, unknown danger. Touring through the archetypal timbres and harmonies of Sky Wander, "Woodfire" paints the hearth-ful atmosphere of our protagonist's call to adventure in its kinetic melodies and booming percussion.

"Plümmet" is track four of the Sky Wander EP, an electronic-orchestral story-based album conveying the journey of an ether explorer through the clouds.

True to its name (sort of), "Plümmet" suffocates listeners in its foggy aura as our protagonist plümmets through the clouds into entirely foreign territory. In his time spent there, he develops an unshakeable attraction to the region, but ultimately takes his leave in pursuit of the grander quest at hand. In its swirling instrumentation, "Plümmet" presents the lamenting yet persistently hopeful emotions haunting our protagonist's mind, cultivating the ever-growing seed of doubt planted within him.

Made for Audio Secret Santa '20. An electronic-orchestral hybrid that speaks to the stoppage of time.

I'm assigning post hoc a metacommentary meaning to this track that ties into one of my previous singles, Zo (https://soundcloud.com/1f1n1ty/zo-1). 2020 has been a crazy experience and I think the songs, side by side, resonate strongly with how my perspective on the state of life has changed.

Some musical notes about Nadir:
- Miyolophone and sleepless helped me with renders of various orchestral sounds. Cool people they are! You should witness their coolness yourself someday
- The sonic progression of the piece is constructed out of about six independent ideas that I figured out how to combine in a meaningful way.
- The crazy section at around 2.25 minutes in has 11-let swing with a 6-5 subdivision, which I didn't plan for when I was writing it but it felt like the appropriate timing
- I've had the main melody for this song in my head for a while so I'm happy that I was able to get it out in a way that I feel like does it some justice. Obviously I'll feel differently about that in a year when I improve some more
