BIO
Andy's been a regular DJ at Syndicate parties back in the early 2000s and had developed a small following throughout the District, Maryland, and Virginia, even playing as far away as Pennsylvania. One major highlight from this period was Andy’s 22nd birthday booking at a party called “Disfunktion” at Jaxx Nightclub in Springfield, VA – a long-standing musical venue that saw countless national and international acts prior to its closure.
The dissolution of the Syndicate left Andy in something of a musical limbo, and he turned to a talent for music composition that he had honed from a very young age, seeking to find a new direction. DJ Inergy died and Typhoid Andy was born. Originally adopting the stage name as his moniker in a punk band, in 2006, he produced a short release of heavily punk- and industrial-influenced electronic music. The masters from that release have since been lost to a hard drive crash, but a copy or two might still exist online.
Some significant changes occurred around this time, as Andy took a break from the music business and decided to return to school. Music was never far from Andy’s life, however. During this period, Andy rekindled a relationship with Give Productions, who are still throwing their weekly party, “Transit." The relationship that Andy developed with Give eventually paid off in his first outside booking since Typhoid Andy came into being. As a producer as well as a DJ, Typhoid Andy caught on quickly to controllerism as it allows him to produce a track and play it out on the same day.
In mid-2013 Andy reconnected with an old friend and DJ, Protoss and together they hatched a plan to create a new Fredericksburg, VA-based crew and weekly known as “Universe.” There had been several attempts to revive the Fredericksburg scene since the death of the Syndicate and for some time it began to look like electronic music might not make a comeback. A cultural shift toward electronic music with acts like Skrillex and Deadmau5 leading the charge meant that there was a significant number of new kids getting into the scene around that time, and Universe would attempt to draw upon that younger crowd while also appealing to the old school ravers. The effort was met with some degree of success, but ultimately they ended up bringing in some big names in the old school scene who were all hits with the older crowd but didn’t appeal much to the younger crowd. Universe was a success though, in that it did bring the rave scene back to Fredericksburg – the Bassment, now an affiliate of BADASS Raves, was given a chance because the owner of both venues got the idea to hold EDM events at his larger venue because of the initial success of Universe and the hard work and promotion of Typhoid Andy. 
More recently Typhoid Andy has turned his attention to the studio. On October 13th, 2014, Typhoid Andy released his first full-length album of original music entitled "Transhumanistic Techno-Theology." It is a concept album, putting music to society’s collision course with the technological singularity and exploring themes of artificial intelligence and the merger of man and machine. Typhoid Andy draws heavy influence from electro like Dopplereffekt and Kraftwerk; electroclash like Miss Kittin and Tommie Sunshine; minimal techno in the vein of Plastikman; early big beat breaks like the Crystal Method and Fatboy Slim; and even a little from acid jazz.
Current projects include continuing with his breakbeat direction while working on minimal techno-influenced tracks in order to establish compatibility with his friend's monthly, Composite, and another friend's record label, Auricle Recordings. May 9, 2015 will also be the first live performance of Boots and Hats, Andy's tag duo with John Holmes.
