Intergalactic Gary is one of our favorite selectors, as his gift is to transcend the boundaries of genre. For this set, you can feel his inspiration as he plays his favorite music from far and beyond to close the ultra heady indoor room of An Interdimensional New Years 2022 at Marble Bar, directly after a mesmerizing set from Mozhgan & Solar. What we got was one of the finest sets anyone could ask for and the perfect way to bring in the transformational energy of the new year. We loved this set so much that we immediately had Jim Gibbons master it for the podcast release. 

Hailing from the Dutch West Coast scene, he is a denizen of IFM, and a Viewlexx veteran with an array of releases ranging from his own solo work to collaborations with I-F (The Parallax Corporation, The Conservatives). His focus on the decks is so deep and illuminated that he makes bridging many disparate genres and styles seem effortless. He easily places disco, early Detroit techno, acid, electro, house, techno and even further into a deeply hypnotic and compelling whole, taking your mind and body on a journey beyond the stars. After starting the mini Dekmantel Selectors podcast series two years ago, it feels like a tradition to bring it back to life. In the next couple of months, we will release 6 podcasts by some of the exciting artists from the line-up. This year’s podcasts challenges the artists to work around a theme or idea they picked theirselves. After Strange Boutique, it's Lena Willikens turn, who just released her brand new Selectors Compilation on Dekmantel Records as well.

It's safe to say that Willikens is one of the most delightfully unpredictable selectors we know. An affiliate of the exuberant Cómeme camp as well as Dusseldorf's renowned Salon des Amateurs establishment, Willikens' sets are built around her unceasingly eclectic tastes and ongoing infatuation with unusual sounds, making her primed again to move the Selectors dancefloor with the best bits of audio she's been able to dig up from the more twisted caverns of electronic music.

In anticipation of that, she put together a stunning mix which include heavy hitters from artists like Meat Beat Manifesto to Metamorphosis, towLie, Single Cell Orchestra and many, many more fantastic artists. Lena on her contribution: "I recorded this mix while moving from place to place in Amsterdam, trying to settle down. Huge thanks to De School which gave me access to their basement when I was trying to find a place to record."

Selectors Podcast 020 - Lena Willikens

Tyrel was a mainstay of Chicago’s underground scene for years. He began mixing records in 1999. Soon later he landed a job at Gramaphone Records where he spent many years building his collection of vinyl. He spent 2007-2011 building his Acid Test residency at Smart Bar, which was an all vinyl dance party in Chicago. In 2009 he took a job working with Jeff Mills and helping Jeff with Axis Records. Tyrel moved to San Francisco in 2011 where he is now a resident DJ for Acid Test. In 2014 he started a project with Bryan Bai-ee called Secret Studio with releases on their own label called Secret Studio Records. His next venture is his new vinyl label with C.L.A.W.S. called Immortal Sin with the first release featuring I.B.M, the second one by Bill Converse and the third release set to come out Jan 2023.
