Dismantled

This project is very special to me.  I was recently blessed with the honor of DJing an art show for one of my favorite painters, Oliana Afano.  She was showing a collection of musicians she loves, everything from Biggie to Bowie to Slash (my kinda gal.)The event was July 9th, the Saturday after 2 more police shootings of innocent men AND the subsequent deaths of 8 cops in Dallas.  Needless to say, it was a tragic and difficult week.  I wasn't sure if I was capable of being cheerful or even professional during this sad time, but of course I was going to try.  Surrounded by her bold, inspired painting, as her beautiful, eclectic friends started to pour in, I felt true healing.  The images, the sounds, the friendly nods permeated the landscape that night and set a tone of love, appreciation, and acceptance.  I left that night feeling like I was floating. Feeling hopeful for our nation and the planet.  Just when you feel like what you do doesn't matter, the universe gives you a night like this, and by some stroke of grace, you actually remember to press the red button and record it.  I also dropped in some words of wisdom from the some of the artists that inspire me.  I hope you enjoy!

So basically we just waiting to see if God exists, and in the meantime kill each other for difference, it's hard to fathom the value system that we're enamored with human beings synonymous with viruses and cancerous it's ironic, Homo sapiens rarely will use the brain fundamentally that's what separates us from other things, it's a doggy dog world though, kill or be killed consumerism truly is the religion of first world, can't dwell in this realm rebel let god get us, I was there the day that hip-hop died I perished with it, and I'll give it everything that I am flesh to the bone, I don't know where I'm going I hope that you feel my soul, the illusion of money is real, it literally doesn't exist, the ones that know this are rich, in the mean time and in between time we build, reparations, information for our children, I could never understand, y'all don't really give a damn what they feed you? Tyrone’s Jacket is the incarnation of channels lost to chance, now embodying the face-slapping, body-shaking experience one could only vaguely attempt to describe after seeing a live performance. This audience hype has elevated them to somewhat mythic proportions, since so little of their recorded material has been available - until now.
