Very few people know that i've spend a credible amount of my early 20s as a wine taster in the most elegant restaurant of Shangai. "The Black Venus" was the name of this fine dining paradise and i must admit that it was there when i fell in love with the most beautiful girl i've seen in my entire life.  I remember thinking she looked like a good illustration, her chin raised a little, jauntily, her hair the color of an autumn leaf, her face the same brown tint as the fingerless glove on her knee. Her name......i don't remember her name but her face, and that's enough i think. This is a mix that i've done for the memory of the most beautiful girl in "The Black Venus" restaurant.

Splore Festival 2023 @ Lucky Star [[ 2 to 4 am ]]

As the darkness moved towards the day and the stars and moon crossed the sky we ended the peak night of Relish; a festival like no other. Inside an enormous castle shaped tent known as the Boogie Down. With terraced cuddle puddles over looking the dance floor heating vents poking through the walls to ease the cold of the crisp southern night and a light show that set the mood on fire. This was a special one for me for many reasons, amongst them the week spent on the lushest of land surrounded by uplifting community immersed in an event that prioritised every need and comfort you could have or want at every turn.
Truly a wondrous collaboration. Im still blinking to check it was all real. Great news, it was. Fantastic!

The original recording didn't end up recording, classic. So this is re recorded for all those who asked me for it.

Thank you to each and every one of the 500 collaborators who contributed to this experience.

This set has been created specifically for an AV performance that had its debut at the 2023 MaryHush Holografic Hotel in Christchurch and was repeated in a different setting at Wave Becomes Particle at NOTW in Auckland. The visual elements of this set were developed in collaboration with Ellie Skeet from Thunderhorsestyle (Concept, Costume, Styling) as well as Sam Folkard from Disguise Lab (Visual Production & Live Projections). I'm incredibly proud of the outcome of this collaboration and couldn't have dreamed it up any better. Thank you everyone, including the crews of both events, for trusting me in this creative process and for giving me a platform to present my visual interpretations of these soundscapes. Selection and flow of the set are intentionally playing with contrasts, duality as well as some rougher edges as part of the AV show concept. I hope you like it :)

In this episode, we are proud to feature Nathan Hall, a sonic alchemist hailing from the mountain town of Squamish, Canada. Nathan's sound is a brew of many styles and influences, the result of years traversing the cultural realms of our world. A fearless explorer of sound, Nathan blurs and reshapes musical boundaries, urging his listeners to expand their auditory horizons. From Slow Techno/House to Tribal, Multicultural, Electronica/Ambient, and Downtempo, his music escapes definition, flourishing instead in the space where genres meld and morph. 

Nathan's 15-year journey as a DJ, coupled with his education as an audio engineer, has fostered a unique ability to weave together diverse sonic elements into a harmonious whole. This talent, along with his propensity for musical experimentation, has propelled him to the forefront of the global music scene, with his tracks released on renowned labels and gigs in notable venues worldwide. 

Beyond his original productions, Nathan is also an in-demand remixer, and a vital member of our Tremulant collective, where his work as mixing and mastering engineer for the Tremulant label is unparalleled. Nathan also helps to run and manage the label Random Collective which curates exquisitely crafted down-and mid-tempo music. As mentioned before, label bosses like Nathan have an exquisite ability to curate sound and find the sonic connections between music, making him a more well-rounded DJ.

Nathan joined us last summer for our 3rd annual Lumnionsity and his daytime set was heralded as several people’s favorite of the weekend. On this episode of Space Medicine, we are  transported back to Nathan’s last visit to Seattle where he performed this DJ set live at the Diffusion nightclub. So buckle up star voyagers!
