In the world of Australian music, Melbourne’s best-kept secret might just be a local up and coming artist named ‘Charlz’, and that secret may not be kept for much longer. 

Its been a busy year for Charlz, what with the recent Artist residence in Los Angeles which culminated in collaborations with fellow Melburnian M-Phazes, Deadmau5 Alum ATTLAS, and UK producer Maths Time Joy, as well as the major label writing placements and the TV and Film stuff.  Her recent single ‘About Last Night’ entered the Spotify global viral 50 chart at #5 the week after release, catching the attention of American Teen phenom Khalid’s camp and resulting in an invitation to open for him at Melbourne’s Festival Hall.  Yep… busy.

In advance of the January release of her collaboration with M-Phazes, we offer ‘Feather’, a luscious, beat hungry collaboration with U.S. producers Lliam + Latroit who’ve got a solid year of A-List broadcast support,  millions of spotify plays, and recent remixes for Le Youth and Depeche Mode between them.

Gill Chang & Danni Carra - Why Do I Try

Producer, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Tyson Kraft picked up the drums at age six. Exposed to an eclectic palette of music from a young age, music quickly became central to the Australian-born artist of mixed descent.

Drawing on futuristic waves of pop, lush and nostalgic electronica, Kraft’s production pays homage to the analog-rich, electronic sounds discovered throughout the 20th century, while combining contemporary cuts of R&B with shimmering, warm and stirring vocals.

Kraft’s songwriting verges on the extremes of introspection and reveals a softer side to his outgoing persona. A passionate teaching associate at one of Australia’s leading universities, Kraft’s music offers a unique contrast to the personality conveyed during the lectures given to his prized students.

This year has seen Kraft pick up considerable momentum, clocking over a million streams across online platforms. Recognising this, The Kite String Tangle signed Kraft’s anthemic single, ‘Let You Go’ to Exist Recordings. Soon after, national tastemaker, triple j recognised Kraft as a finalist in the RÜFÜS DU SOL national remix competition, for his genre-bending reimagining of the dance trio’s track, ‘New Sky’.

In 2019, Kraft revealed he is also the force behind Harla, a newly emerged house music project, which has since joined forces with Atlantic/Warner Music partnership dance imprint, Parametric Records, following the breakout success of his debut single, ‘When You’re Lonely’.
