Montréal-based Marie Davidson is something special. Creating dark and ominously sexy synth-laden tracks, the artist weaves her poetry - sometimes English, sometimes French - into the smokey atmosphere as spoken word. Taken from her second LP, Un Autre Voyage (out April 14th on Holodeck Records), Insomnie builds in intensity, layering electronic ladders as you make it through the haze and through another sleepless night. Continuing from her Conscious Cunt EP released on London’s Houndstooth label, Aïsha Devi’s debut album Of Matter and Spirit sees the Swiss-Nepalese producer and vocalist further her highly personal project.

Here, the conceptual musician and label owner resumes her dark and intricate self-journey, described as both an identity search and spiritual quest challenging our perception of reality and the possibility of alter-invisible dimensions, ‘the disconnection between matter and spirit in our society’.

‘Mazdâ’ is “an ‘R’n’B incantation. It’s about burning the ego and finding inner peace. It's a meta love song.”
