Zygote
(For Two String Quartets)

Performed by the Theseus Quartet and the Rowan Quartet

This piece was premiered as part of the Chamber Music Festival at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England on Friday March 15th 2019.

The concert was titled 'The Future of the String Quartet', and involved various pieces which used novel techniques or technology to expand the capabilities of the ensembles. 

This piece uses the RNCM's networking technology (Ensemble+) to link the two quartets together using a super low-latency internet stream. I was hoping to play with the limitations and possibilities of this technology as part of this composition.

Big thanks to the Theseus and Rowan Quartets for their fantastic work in bringing this piece to life. :)
