Nothing To Hide (feat. Karra)

Surprisingly enough, Alexa was the first person I had a session with for this EP, and this was the last song finished. We got to know each other fairly well and started writing the basic idea of the song up until the drop and then called the session.

Before going to bed that night I wrote a note with an idea of what I was hearing in my head. Within a couple of minutes the next morning, the first try at the idea worked perfectly and fit the song (which never really happens). I fleshed out the rest of the production the rest of the day and sent back.

We set up a session right before the EP was done to flesh out the second verse and Alexa changed the chorus melody which gave the song so much life and energy. A lot of tailoring the song to fit, replacing chops and constantly bouncing different ideas around - we finished and the song sounded complete.

Love, Alexa is one of the most interesting people I've had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know - her background and sound are one of one and come full circle with the way she writes and sings. There were moments while recording where I laid down with my eyes closed and just listened to her voice. Thank you for helping create this song and for being a part of the EP.

After our highly successful first release of 2019, we couldn't be more excited to reveal the second one of the year by welcoming the highly talented American producer Barren Gates and RMND to make their debuts on Future Generation.

Right from the very first second, Barren Gates & RMND paint a scene of a dark, contemplative night with the atmospheric pads and lonely, muted synths. The gorgeous but ominous vocals whisper to you through the fog, reminding you that your shadows, your past, will always be following you.

In The Darkness is a wonderful texture of the complex mood and top class sound design. Whereas the first drop was more of an even fight between light and dark, influenced by RMND, the second drop elevates the track into a whole new level with the aggressive, distorted electric guitar leads and a heavier bassline, where you’re able to clearly hear Barren Gates’ past rock influences. As a cherry on top of the cake, the break vocals have been distorted in such a dynamic fashion that it’s almost a cinematic experience.

After Barren Gates’ multiple releases on NCS and other influential labels, In The Darkness is set to be another massive release in his new venture, which is rapidly classifying him as one of the most emerging trap music acts on the scene. It’s not far-fetched to title In The Darkness as one of the most interesting trap releases of March 2019 by receiving the early approval by some of the most notorious tastemakers in the scene: Trap Nation, Trap City and Nightblue Music among many others. The two talented creative minds managed to create something truly unique with their collaboration, which fulfills its expectations as another sensational release on Future Generation’s catalogue and its ever-widening spectrum of different electronic music styles.

Thanks for listening to the Get Got & Restraint remix of ‘Never Let You Go.’ This track started with some beautiful chords put down by Jack Basset who then added some melodic leads. Levi and Alex, aka Get Got, began to take over and turn the track into a future, feel good vibe. After the track was completely laid out, Alex got in touch with Justin Romaker, who is a guitarist back in Ohio. Justin tracked down some awesome chords and gave the track a whole different feel. Progressing a month forward, Get Got shared the track with John Lightner aka Restraint. John was a huge help with the final mixing/mastering. He gave the track a lot more width and size and was the perfect match to give the track what it needed for its final touches. Let us know what you think in the comments!
