SYNERGY SELECTS 009: IULY.B LIVE FROM BERLIN

To mark it becoming 2 years this month since we had our first weekend slot at Distrikt, Leeds and our first official headliner of Iuly.b, we welcome him back onto our Selects Series for an anniversary mix! 

Iuly.b has taken the Romanian wave by storm since we hosted him and after the set he played we can only say it is more that deserved. Becoming a artist for Sunrise with plenty of bookings under their liaison, he has released multiple EPs and tracks which showcase his psychedelic rhythmic style with big basslines on labels such as FUSE, Metereze, Subtil and RORA. 

When Iulian made the journey to Leeds, we said to him that it will only be a matter of time before he plays at Sunwaves Festival. That following year he made his debut in the legendary Tent 4. Not only playing there for the first time, he was invited back the following year and both sets were absolutely pumping with energy infused with a raw and crisp groove. 

He has earned widespread recognition for his distinct style for both his skilful production which entices listeners with his percussive hypnotic patterns and both daring and diverse track selection to capture a dancefloor’s ears.

Manefiu, whose real name is Iancu Marian, hails from Sighisoara and is now based in Bucharest. He is one of the founders of UMVU Agency, Urband MIDI Records, and WHOAMI Records. His love for electronic music began at an early age, further fueled by the experience of building professional speakers with his uncle, which were tested with music from his own portfolio.

Manefiu first encountered electronic music at 14, creating his initial compilation from soundtracks of an Ibiza documentary. He began his career by sharing his mixes with friends and playing at local parties. Over time, he ventured into music production but maintained a focus on performing at private events, festivals, and abroad. He has had the opportunity to share the stage with notable names such as Franco Cinelli, Suciu, Dubtil, Dan Andrei, Sublee, Piticu, Sepp, Cally, Mihai Pol, Macarie, Vid, Aamir, Vlad Arapasu, Prichindel, Alejandro Fernandez, and others, performing in cities like Amsterdam, Bucharest, Brasov, Suceava, and Sighisoara, and at festivals including Vuiet and DAVA Festival.
