The original version of the track was recorded in Marfa, TX, before the band commenced official tracking for 'Shields' in Cape Cod and New York, and was released earlier this month on 'Shields Expanded' and 'Shields B-Sides.' The collections build on their acclaimed 2012 iTunes Album of the Year with exclusive b-sides, demos, and remixes.

'Shields' was released to some of 2012's best reviews, with Pitchfork calling it "magnificently epic" and the NY Times hailing it as "enthralling." The band performed tracks from the album on Colbert, Fallon, Letterman, Leno, Austin City Limits, and Ellen, and played their biggest headlining and international festival shows to date.

About Shilo Andrews:
Shilo Andrews was born and raised in North West London where for the first 16 years of his life music was just a noise in the background. Straight after finishing high school he flew to northern California to live with his father (a retired musician) where he spent the next 4 years discovering his passion for music.

Immediately feeling the sting of being alone Shilo set up an airstream trailer in the forest on the back of his dad's land and built a studio in it where he would spend all his nights producing and mastering his guitar playing.

Shilo:"I would stay up from midnight to about six AM just messing with sounds"

Most of his inspiration coming from Bob Marley Shilo bought himself a Marley song book and was singing the songs in no time.

"No woman No cry is probably my most idolized song to date. That song was able to talk about a political view without a judgment. Something i think music in general finds very hard to do".

After a year in the forest he moved to the town of Santa Rosa where he attended Santa Rosa Junior College.

Majoring in Theater he eventually dropped every academic class he had in order to focus on acting and music.

He started a hip-hop group "Live Long" and went into producing an album.

Finishing college he decided a change was needed.

Shilo:"It was either LA or New York. I'd been to LA once already and never New York so... I figured i'd try something new. The whole reason for the move was the music! I turned to my dad. He suggested rapping with my guitar...haha i was like no ones gonna listen to that dad..."

So he started adapting his guitar style to rap around it.

He found himself in Harlem next. Then Brooklyn. Then the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music where he met Guitar teacher Ron Jackson. Jackson heard him playing a song outside his class one day and was taken back by his ability to rap and play at the same time. He invited him to come to his studio to show some of his music to Music producer Shohei Narabe.

Shohei after hearing a few songs decided to produce the album "Acceptance".

While the album was in progress Shilo started hitting the open mic circuit.

Shilo:"Banjo Jim's had to be the most friendly one i went to. It became a community, every saturday afternoon i'd go down there and hang with a crowd of musicians and just jam".

Congo Natty aka Rebel MC has a career dating back to his early hit with Double Trouble, "Street Tuff," but is probably most respected as one of the pioneers of Jungle - perhaps the first uniquely UK-born bass music. 

"Jungle Revolution" features the whole of the extended Congo Natty family and was mixed with Adrian Sherwood. Clearly showing this Rasta's belief that Jungle is a re-boot of roots reggae for a new century, the record is full of blood and fire, the sternum-buzz of sub-bass, rapid fire drum breaks, sweet hooks, righteous anger and professions of religious fervour. It’s the kind of passionate, committed, raw and spiritual, beautiful record that doesn’t come along every day.  

To celebrate this release, we are streaming the track "UK Allstars," which features a who's who of British soundsystem culture. This is the first time ever that this line up have all appeared on one track together and so also marks a historic coming together of a scene which lies at the roots of so much of what we now take for granted in UK music, from dubstep to grime to drum & bass and beyond.

With Dysnomia, the Brooklyn-based group Dawn of Midi made up of double bass player Aakaash Israni, pianist Amino Belyamani and drummer Qasim Naqvi abandon improvisation in favour of composition, utilising sophisticated rhythmic structures from North and West African folk traditions to weave a sonic tapestry of trance-inducing grooves. From close up one may see only dots, but when stepping back an undulating image reveals itself. “We didn’t want to create anything cerebral,” says Belyamani, “we wanted something visceral, something that would awaken our instinctive dance impulses.”

“We wanted to make a record that sounded both musically futuristic and sonically vintage,” explains Israni, “and since the album never saw a proper international release, it is very exciting to see what might happen when more people are exposed to it. And to be aligned with Erased Tapes, whose enthusiasm for the music they release has done a lot for exposing unique instrumental and electronic music, makes it that much more interesting.”
