Krista Detor's indictment of war-based economy at the hands of special-interest, Belle of the Ball is a darkish, sometimes gypsy twist on the classic Cinderella tale with Krista in the title role. Victor Wooten's singular musical genius brings the song and the story to a full-throttle climax, with the backing of an array of great musicians, including two brilliant violinists - Dena El-Saffar of Salaam, and Ariel Horowitz of Juilliard. After the happily ever after, the question rings: "Who will sing 'God save the King,' when kingdom's coming, walls are tumbling down?".

A few months ago, received a very interesting comment from Steve (“https://soundcloud.com/vix56”) asking if the Katy Heath from The Norman Chop Trio was the same singer as the one who used to appear on BBC Radio 2’s “Folk On 2” back in the late 70’s?  To cut a long story into one of optimum length and brevity, it turned out that Steve had recorded 3 of Katy’s songs from one of these shows.  Sadly, 2 of them were incomplete (the start of both were slightly clipped, so not a disaster) but thought Katy’s fans would be interested in what remains.  “Birdsong”, though, is complete and comes with the bonus of an announcement, which serves only to emphasis her true working class credentials.  Sincere thanks to Steve for being so generous with these recordings which were, until now, thought lost.  Look out for the other two, both coming up in the next week or so…
