We are very excited to premiere the fresh jazz sounds of “utabiri”, our favourite song from their forthcoming album ‘Modern Uganda’ for U Know Me Records. 

U Know Me tells us that the band has already broken up, which seems a shame considering the creativity displayed on songs such as “utabiri”, where led by the soothing vibraphone chords, the skittering drums propel the brass, rubbery basslines and a summery rhythm guitar, complemented by subtle electronics and loops.

"Utabiri" means "weather forecast" in Swahili. In this case the band are imagining a "good weather forecast". 

delay_ok was a band from Gdańsk, Poland, which was formed in 2017 and played together till 2020 in the belief that making music must be fun. It was a trio consisting of Piotr Chęcki (tenor and baritone saxophone, flute, casio), Szymon Burnos (synthesizers, moog, guitar, vocals) and Jacek Prościński (drums, spdsx, percussion). On this, their debut album you can also hear the peculiar sounds of the Sopot's MDK Orchestra, the guitar of Michał Z ienkowski and a Tanzanian rap by Alex (Alex Mussa), met in Zanzibar.

"We create impulsively, not ignoring our first - sometimes trivial - ideas,because it is in them that we find the joy that accompanied us at the very beginning of our musical paths. W e do it so that we can sit together in front of the speakers and have fun listening to our own songs again. "Modern Uganda" is a small collection of our interests, so we kind of do it out of the selfish need of doing something for ourselves"

The band oscillates around the sound of IDM, lo-fi, and other sub-genres of modern electronics, with an element of jazz improvisation. The album was DIY recorded and is a tribute to the most famous African ski jumper from Uganda - Dunstan Odeke.

The "Modern Uganda" vinyl record comes in two colors (flamingo pink and classic black). Mixed and mastered by Maciej Milewski, the cover photo with shoebill was taken by nao-cha, a Japanese artist from Tokyo.

TriCity saxophonist & composer Michał Jan is joined fellow Polish progressive jazz trio Immortal Onion on a brand new album, "Screens", for U Know Me Records, featuring the sharp sounds of "Digital Relations".

Michał Jan Ciesielski, a young saxophonist, composer, arranger, sound engineer from TriCity, Poland, has composed, recorded and mixed an entire album, performed by Michał himself, in collaboration with the Immortal Onion trio, proving that the fusion of jazz and electronic music can yield exciting, fresh and orginal results. 

After two well received albums (“Ocelot of Salvation” in 2017 and “XD [ExperienceDesign]” in 2020), Immortal Onion have built a strong position as one of the most interesting new jazz projects from Poland, fusing jazz with film music, minimalism, fusion, electronic music, and even progressive metal.

According to Michał, "The song is totally like digital relations. At first it seems nice and easy but then it starts getting more and more complicated until it ends sooner than you’d like".

U Know Me Records is due to  release “Screens” on digital and vinyl on April 22nd.

Exclusive Premiere: Michał Jan & Immortal Onion "Digital Relations" (U Know Me Records)

Today's exclusive, "Ostatni Sygnal" (meaning "Last Signal"), comes from "post jazz" duo Twoosty Mayonez, on Poland's ever-consisent U Know Me Records.

Twoosty Mayonez consists of Bartosz Wolert (drums) and Dominik Kaniewski (bass guitar and synthesizers). "Carmin" is their debut album, which will be released primarily on vinyl by U Know Me Records next week. 

According to Twoosty Mayonez, "Ostatni Sygnal" is the "last track from our debut album, but for sure not the last track from the planet Carmin". 

"Things don't always go your way, especially when your plans involve space travel. In the case of Captain Harrison Focus's expedition, it started innocently, but no one was prepared for an emergency landing on the mysterious planet Carmin. Only then did the real fight for survival begin. This record tells the story of a dangerous expedition into space that began on February 6, 2023."

Red Bull Music Academy alumnus En2ak returns on U Know Me Records with his 4th LP “Kamikaze Broccoli”. The „KK” album is full of cameos, including one of the best polish rappers VNM, and acclaimed singer Paulina Przybysz. Also as many as three Red Bull Music Academy alumni: Jolly Mare, Ben LaMar and Mr Krime. 

Join En2ak in this hazed journey, as he explores never played-out samples, heavy arrhythmic hip-hop beats, mutated cascades of glitches and sonic distortions, whimsical and sometimes goofy synths. All that in a blunted mixture with some orchestral accents sprinkled on. And yes, as the world of “Kamikaze Broccoli” unfolds you can clearly hear inspirations from the likes of DJ Vadim, Pete Rock, Madlib, and Teebs. 

Although the emphasis on hop-hop is stronger here than on previous releases, the “Kamikaze Broccoli” album is still very versatile and should please both electronic music fans and hip-hop heads.

PREMIERE: Raymond Neighbour - Ricocheted

We are happy to share the exhilarating live cinematic jazz sounds of Poland’s brilliantly titled Immortal Onion, with a recording of “Triggers”, recorded at Warsaw’s famous Jassmine club, forthcoming on U Know Me Records. 

Immortal Onion are an instrumental band from Gdańsk, Poland. The group consists of Ziemowit Klimek (upright bass/bass guitar/moog), Tomir Śpiołek (keyboards) and Wojtek Warmijak (drums). Formed in 2016, Immortal Onion offer a bold combination of many seemingly remote styles - jazz, minimalism as well as fusion, electronic music and even progressive metal.

“Triggers (live at Jassmine)” will be released on the fourth 10-inch EP celebrating the 10th anniversary of U Know Me Records, featuring 5 songs from Immortal Onion. For those missing live concerts there are 2 songs taken from the band's 8th of August performance at Jassmine club, Warsaw. The B-side starts with a rework of the song called "Leaving", originally composed by Hania Rani (who often performs with 2 members of Immortal Onion). The next song (“Zu Hause”) was created especially for this album as the result of the band’s experiments with electronics. The EP closes with a rework of “Eye Tracking” - a song from ”XD [Experience Design] - made by Kadrych.

The rework of “Leaving” will be released only on vinyl and won’t be available on streaming services.

Strictly limited edition - 300 hand-numbered copies. The first hundred will be released on red vinyl and copies from 101 to 300 as classic black ones. Released on December 18, 2020.

The album was created with help of trusted people, who also worked on “XD [Experience Design]” (the first Immortal Onion's album recorded for U Know Me Records and released in March 2020) - graphic design by Martiszu, mix by Envee (except the last song mixed by Maciej Stendek) and mastering by Eprom.
