Ok...apologies for the ragged voice, the overblown distorted levels and the harp playing.  I will do better next time.  This one is close to my heart and Deadicated to Ray Davies.  Why?  Because it is about me and all my musical artistic friends who have to do what they want to do and find meaning in a job they like, but not love.  They would love to be musicians artists writers...most of them are.  But it don't pay the bills!  Ray Davies wrote tons of songs about the working class, the men living lives of quiet desperation.  And that is what this one is about...dreaming about a better way to spend 40 or 50 hours a week.  Unless you absolutely LOVE what you are doing...then you are cool.  But if you could pick your job and salary?  And forget about practicality?  Or be independently wealthy?  Would you spend your days playing golf or reading at the beach or hiking or travelling or doing something different than working in an insurance agency or Triple AAA or Morgan Stanley? I bet most people would say yes...

ok...on the second take, I forgot to lower the levels to get rid of the distorted overdrive...which is GOOD.  This one is a little distorted and loud and drunk and disorderly and it is about the hypocrisy of SOME of the rich who seem to not give a fuck about the poor or people in general and have no compassion or understanding that they are just doing the best they fucking can.  Hey Neo Cons, Karl Rove, Cheney, Romney and Georgie...I am talking to you!  
      Don't think George W is a bad man...Bono said as a man he was funny, genuine and really nice.  But he is a bit dim witted folks...and he was walking into Cheney and Rove's office and going "what should I do or say next".  And THOSE FUCKING GUYS ARE EVIL.  True.  Cheney rails against the gays and his fucking daughter is gay.  He is nice to her though I hear, of course.  He is sympathetic...he believes someday when he is in the clouded VIP room with Jesus and Jerry Falwell...she will be far below in hell...a sinner...swimming in a pool of shit and fire.  The comedy of it is...I don't believe in Heaven and Hell other than here on earth. And sometimes the trailer parks and projects can be like hell.   Then they can be like Purgotary...where you know you are getting out of there and will live a better life eventually but not yet...then a place like Providence College might be heaven...if you came from the projects.  Nice rooms, well adjusted friends, food, parties...no fear of violence or fears for your safety.

      The Irony is...if there is a hell and maybe there is...I ain't going there...and if I am at least I'm enjoying the ride there.  But Cheney?  If there is a hell my brothers and sisters...HE, not his lesbian daughter will be doing the back stroke in a sea of shit and flames for a long time and he deserves it.  He has a lot of fucking things to repent for...I am guessing he is there for at least five hundred years.

       Maybe I am wrong, like Bill Maher says, I don't know about the afterlife(and neither do you so stop telling me how to behave in preparation for the fucking reaping or whatever crazy shit YOU believe)  What I do know...if there is one.  Cheney is fucking there and if I am up in heaven with my family, and my friends and Garcia and Ghandi and Jesus...they will understand, and sorry mom for my lack of manners.
        They will understand why I needed to lean over the railing to spot Cheney...or Rove...or fucking Rumsfield...and piss on them.  And then fucking spit on them too.  Woo...that gets me excited...I hope there is a heaven and hell.  I am totally going to do that and I bet Jesus will let me.  He likes me.  And man, he is more than just all right with me!

U.V. Waves is an original rock and roll, rhythm and blues, country and folk, soul, funk and reggae review jam band that considers itself a tight song oriented band with meaningful lyrics and tight harmonies who approaches live shows in a way that combines a little bit of Grateful Dead, Phish and the Allman Brothers with a hint of the activism of U2, Springsteen and Peter Gabriel.  We believe songs are created in a room and are organic entities waiting to engage the world.  They do this through live performances and they are approached in the moment, meant to be stretched, distorted, lengthened or shortened and will vary in intensity and or dynamics depending on the energy in the room, the world and the singer at the moment it is performed.

      Toots, and Marley and Jimmy Cliff, Woody and Hank and Dylan,  DYLAN, Springsteen and Petty, JOHN LENNON, the Steely Dan's and RUSH!, the monsters of metal like Sabbath, Maiden, Priest and Metallica, REM and The Pixies and the Stone Roses, U2 U2 and U2!!!!, Pearl Jam and Nirvana, the Green Days and Weezers and Sublime and the Peppers, Jack White and the Black Keys....WEEN!!!!!, PINK!!!!!! and Janis, Radiohead and Arcade Fire.  We are U.V. Waves...which stands for Ultraviolet Waves... Ultraviolet being rays of light that are not visible to the human eye.  Waves being the sounds and energy vibrations we seek to bring into the room.  We Love Music because like the Byrds song says, it provides the soundtrack you need to score the film of the human condition.  There is a time to cry due to the pain and desperation,  to scream in thoughts of anger and frustration, to reflect in quiet meditation, to fly with the sense of personal liberation and to exult and dance in a frenzy of joy and celebration.  We are hoping we can provide all of those opportunities in one performance, like the Dead, U2 Arcade Fire or any other great live band will do on any given night.   You my friends, are welcome to join us.  Everyone is welcome...whatever your color, sexual orientation or religious/political views.  We stand for joy, emotional expression, liberation, freedom, personal power and the belief that the individual can accomplish anything if he calls on his spirit and will, does it in accordance with principles and moral law, which will always hang above the world of man and represents the law of what it right and wrong.  We believe there are things that are larger than us, that can't be explained.  We believe if you do something with love and passion the Universe will send great forces to aid you in your mission.  We also believe and recognize that the world is filled with unexplainable phenomena and mystery.
     For example, the magic and power and energy that four childhood friends from Dublin create when they step into a room or a stage and collaborate and create together.  They conjure magic and power and are so much more than the sum of their parts.  They are four individuals who come together and create something awe astounding, an energy and liberation through words and music.  They are powerful soul changing sorcerers!   We are U.V. Waves...this is who and what we are and we bow down to all of the masters who have come before us, and will undoubtedly come after us.  We do it out of honor with a sense of humility and gratitude for the music they have provided.  Who and what are you?  It does not matter...you are invited to the party no matter what your answer!
