In 2015, this song was used by First Languages Australia to open Mother Tongue Day. It was written in collaboration with Ub Ubbo Exchange and the Parkes Wiradjuri Language Group in Central West, NSW. It is entirely sung in the Wiradjuri language and features Wiradjuri singers and musicians. In 2019, it used again to help celebrate the United Nations The Year of Indigenous Languages for the Parkes council.

Emanating from the mountain province in the Philippines, this song was the result of a collaboration between Ub Ubbo Exchange and the Cordillera Fusion Collective. It was developed using sounds captured in the field and recordings of traditional instruments. It features traditional melodies with lyrics written by students from the Sagada High School, to send a message of unity and cultural resilience for all indigenous people in the Cordilleras.

The song production/project of “echoes (Sunfield Records arrangement)” was directed & facilitated by Ub Ubbo Exchange in collaboration with Sunfield Records.

Originally  "echoes - Cordillera Fusion Collective" was apart of a 2012 Ub Ubbo Exchange Project and program for the Bangamalanha Binnadang (Bangamalanha - Sharing in Wiradjuri Language; Binnadang- Sharing in Kankanaey Language) cultural exchange and exhibitions held in Australia and the Philippines to celebrate the uniqueness and similarities of the indigenous peoples of the Cordillera and Wiradjuri peoples of the Central West of New South Wales Australia.

The original song's production for "echoes - Cordillera Fusion Collective" was a Desert Pea Media cultural development program with indigenous peoples in Baguio City and Sagada in the Philippines. Held by programmer Toby Finlayson and field recorder and composer Joel "Roc West" Westlake.
Featuring over 30 traditional Cordilleran artists and young persons, the song was developed through
using sounds captured in the field, recording traditional instruments and musicians.

“echoes” sends a message of unity and cultural resilience for all the
indigenous peoples of the Cordillera.

Cordillera Fusion Collective - Echoes (original version)

From the first drops of rain, hungered for in a drought, to the trickles of a creek and the flow of a river until the great surges of the ocean, undercurrents charts those thoughts, feelings and tensions that swim just beneath the surface of all our lives.

Melody fragments, woven into the music, are performed by the Parkes Community Choir. The group was formed as part of the Drought Response Initiative to support the community through the current devastating drought.

Based on the 2013 Banjo Paterson Writing Competition award-winning poem, this song recounts the life of a blacksmith in Parkes, NSW. It tells of a hard life, richly lived. The music provides the accompaniment to the spoken words of the poem and includes many sounds of the tools, including the anvil strike, recorded at the blacksmith’s forge. 

Premiered during the "Art forged in Miscellany" exhibition.

The chairs are gone where old men sat
And watch'd the blacksmith as he swung
Short-handled hammers at the steel
They heard the anvil ring and ring
And saw the heated metal bend
And heard the hiss of shoes he thrust
Into the bucket at his hip

The anvil rang across the day
The blacksmith spoke of men of steel
The bellows of his chest breathed heat
Into his stories of great fights
And bravest horses ever bred
And coward acts of cops and thieves
His yarns as crafted as his shoes

The anvil rang across the years
Steel wrist and elbow wore and wore
Angina wracked the ancient chest
As lower fell the hammers' arc
And chairs were empty one by one
His wife fell terminally ill
His station wagon rusted through

Actual recordings of pulsars and other space sounds captured by the CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope and NASA, have been threaded throughout the music.

Music accompanying James Cassidy’s poem ‘Millenia Wandering’ was created by Sean Lea and Alex Gunn, artists with their roots in Central West NSW. This is the pairs first collaboration for Ub Ubbo with a larger work currently being summoned from ethereal bodies. Sean and Alex release and  perform music under the names Black lotus mind control and Blue Picnic respectively. 

The soundscape was created as part of a piece of multimedia art that paints a journey through space and into the quantum realm. It features recordings of a neutron star discovered at the Parkes Radio telescope, as well other stars recorded at Jodrell Bank Observatory, UK.
