Ludovic Navarre fête les vingt ans de “Tourist”, son album phare, avec “Tourist : Travel Versions”, une compilation de remixes par quelques cadors en vue du courant deep house. Il refait pour nous le parcours de ses influences musicales, de Bob Marley à Michael Jackson ou Portishead.

Lorsqu’il dit « house music », il prononce « haoûsse musique », avec un accent français forcé, comme il était du dernier chic, au début des années 1990, quand on était un producteur parisien. Bien qu’il ait dégainé avant les Daft Punk et Air, avec son album Boulevard.

The Complete Series (1995), premier succès commercial de la scène électro française avec deux cent mille exemplaires vendus, et bien qu’il ait écoulé son deuxième,Tourist (2000) à plus de quatre millions de copies à ce jour, on avait ces derniers temps oublié de prendre des nouvelles de Ludovic Navarre, alias St Germain. 

Après son troisième disque St Germain (2015), belle rencontre entre la house et la musique malienne, le timide et discret producteur né en 1969 à Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Yvelines) revient dans l’actualité grâce à Tourist : Travel Versions, une fine compilation de remixes des titres les plus connus de Tourist (Rose rouge, So Flute, Sure Thing et What You Think About).

Fantastic remix of the classic Willie Bobo track. Original version recorded by Rudy Van Gelder in 1965...remix done in 2002 and released on the Verve Remixed album.

This recording gets the quasi-audiophile treatment...Rega P3, Dynavector 10x5 cartridge, PrimaLuna ProLogue Three & MOTU 896HD audio interface recording at 24/96. To top it off this 7 1/2 minute song fills up an ENTIRE record side pressed at 33 1/3! These grooves are insane! Easily one of the best "dance" 12"s I've ever heard. Dig that bass!

Our second offering of the day is a summer-ready remix of Bahama Soul Club’s John Lee Hooker sampling "Never Roam No More", by producer & DJ, Smoove.  Taken from their forthcoming album, 'Bohemia After Dawn', released on July 17 via Buyu Records.

Now based in Algarve Portugal, German combo Bahama Soul Club has become internationally recognized for its laidback and uber cool vibe blending tropical rhythms with jazz and electronic sounds. Following a period of silence, in 2018 they digitally released what would be the first track from their new album, single "Never Roam No More" that uses excerpts of a 1946 recording of John Lee Hooker's "My First Wife Left Me".

Fast forward 2 years and new album "Bohemia After Dawn" is ready to drop worldwide on Buyu Records on July 17th with 10-sunsoaked songs and 2 remixes, including a drum-heavy dancefloor version of "Never Roam No More" by super producer and DJ Smoove, whose beefed up production takes the track in a nu disco direction. 

Bahama Soul Club's upcoming 5th album "Bohemia After Dawn" draws deep inspiration from the multicultural verve of young worldly folk drawn to the Bohemian coasts of the most southwestern part of Europe, where hippiesque hedonism, infinite musical diversity, and offbeat enchanted lifestyles fuel the scene. Featuring a slew of local Algarvian talent as well as members of the extended BSC family, the result is a mature, mellow and well-balanced mix of exotic flavors!
