My set from the best party in the world. In the summer of 2024, a group of music-loving individuals created a unique rave with a stunning sound system, incredible decorations, and mind-blowing visuals deep in the forest of Rütschelen, Switzerland. This is the set I played there, but as the recording failed back then, I remixed it in the Tankwa Karoo Desert in South Africa - even further away from civilisation but with a glass of wine and swimming pool to jump in inbetween the tracks. Teba The Original Social Worker is a Reggae artist based in Cape Town, South Africa and his 
love for the arts started in community theatre.  
 
He was born and raised in Gugulethu township, Cape Town then moved for a few years to 
Johannesburg where he started recording in 1996 with the Kwaito band Skeem. They were 
awarded a SAMA (South African Music Awards) for Best Township Pop with their debut hit 
song Waar Was Jy? 
 
His music deals with social justice, universal love and songs of inspiration. Always 
championing the cause of the voiceless, this has made him a favourite role model for 
community events involving the arts. His performance is nothing short of electric and 
massive. 
 
On returning to Cape Town in 2003, he collaborated with African Dope Records. The result 
was the album entitled  African Dope Sound System - an Electro/Dub/Reggae/Dancehall 
Compilation, where he featured as a Ragga MC and as a bassist. Also featured were artists 
Black Dillinger, Zoro, Chronic Clan, Crosby, Alcapone-JJ, Jesse Dan, Red Lion, Juan Thyme 
and DJ Dope aka Fletcher. 
 
In 2004 Teba decided to joined forces with producer Grenville Williams from High Voltage 
Entertainment, to start work on his solo debut album  20-5-2-1 Manifesto. Dubmasta China 
and EJ von Lyrik feature on production duties as well. The album was released in the same 
year and features guest artists  EJ von Lyrik, Tumi Molekane (from Tumi & The Volume), 
Shameema (from Godessa), Crosby, Daddy Spencer, Gingacobra, Ras Sugah and Dj Azuhl. 
The music on the album ranges from Roots Reggae to Afrobeat to Dancehall, Hip Hop and 
Funk and that is very evident in Teba’s performances as well. One of the tracks Gatyeni, is 
featured on a Geman compilation of Reggae and Dancehall from Africa, called African 
Rebel Music (OutHere Records). 
   
He has performed at major international festivals including The Wurzburg Afrika Festival in 
Germany, and  Rototom Reggae Sunsplash in Italy, as well as France, Reunion Islands, 
Australia, New Zealand, South Pacific Islands, Solomon Islands, and Finland.   
 
In studio work, he also features on the compilations Rogue State Of Mind (2006) and Rogue 
State Of Mind Part 2 (2008), a collaboration between South African and Swiss Hip Hop artists 
and producers. 
 
The Roots Riders (from The Netherlands) also feature Teba alongside EJ von Lyrik and Seven 
Raggasouljah on the track Big Up, which is available on their 2009 collaborative album So 
Much More – Songs Of Redemption Part 2. The track was produced by Darin G and Seven 
Raggasouljah. 
  
Teba is currently working with some of South Africa’s most musically gifted musicians such as 
EJ von Lyrik on vocals, Grenville Williams on bass, Carlo Thompson on guitar, Sean Ou Tim 
(aka Mr Sakitumi) on samples and keys, Darren Petersen on drums, Mpumi Sizani on backing 
vocals, DJ Dubmasta China (aka Seven Raggasouljah) on vocals and percussion and Ricky 
Bushula on keys. His new album Voice Of Azania is currently in the pre-production stage and 
will be released before the end of 2010.  
Look out for the new material at the gigs and you will have an idea of the new album.
