Ubuntu Islam is a Islamic music group or a band from Soweto, in South Africa. Ubuntu Islam consists of 4 founding members and a number of other members that participate when the need arises. They have been singing together for more than 10 years, singing in different Islamic events, jalsas, cd launches and Islamic conferences. On their journey they have had the pleasure of working with Zain Bhika, Lungelo Moti and Jeremy just to name a few. They are currently working on their debut album. Judging by the response of their latest single they have released online and by their explosive live performances.
Their sound is distinctly African with a mixture of soul, two of their members are of RnB background. Their mission is to get the massage of Islam using a medium which people are familiar with, music. That’s why they have been tirelessly working to achieve a type of sound that will appeal to different type of people locally and across the world, and still maintain their African and Ubuntu identity.
On they are already making a name for themselves with their latest single called “Durood” which was released early 2015.
