Deputy Minister Botes Interview With Eden FM In George In The Western Cape

The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr Ronald Lamoma, will deliver the Budget Vote Speech of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) on Thursday, 3 July 2025, in Parliament, Cape Town.

Minister Lamola will use the occasion to outline South Africa’s foreign policy priorities for the Financial Year 2025 to 2026, focussing on programmes and activities aligned to the attainment of the priorities of the Seventh Administration.

Deputy Ministers Mr Alvin Botes and Ms Thandi Moraka will also deliver remarks during the debate on the Budget Vote Speech, focussing on South Africa’s relations with Europe and the Americas as well as Asia and Middle East regions, respectively.

Ahead of the Budget Vote Speech, Minister Lamola is scheduled to hold a media briefing.

*DIRCO and Unisa to host a G20 Townhall Engagement in Durban*

The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), in collaboration with the University of South Africa (Unisa) and the University of KwaZulu-Natal, will host a G20 Townhall Outreach on 08 October 2025 in Durban. 

The event will take place under the theme: “_Financial Inclusion for Economic Development: Creating Access to Benefit Grassroots Economies_.”

The inaugural DIRCO-UNISA G20 Town Hall Outreach took place on 14 May 2025 in Pretoria, Gauteng Province. The second instalment took place on 08 August 2025 in Mbombela, Mpumalanga Province, with the third taking place on 16 September 2025 in Cape Town.

South Africa’s G20 Presidency stands as a vital moment to shape global dialogues and promote economic development. It represents a strategic opportunity to advance change in global governance while working towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Financial inclusion is increasingly recognized as a critical element of the global economic system, particularly in relation to poverty eradication, equitable growth and social stability. In a globalized economy, financial inclusion has the potential to reduce inequality, foster resilience and promote sustainable development.
