Today i met (virtually across the London postcodes) my colleague Dr Claudia Naeser.  Claudia and I chatted her life working on Egyptian Archaeology, her research and excavations in Sudan, working with undergraduates, taking more time to walk our dogs and swim in the River Thames (Claudia, not me!) and to praise the amazing Libraries - especially the IoA Library and Dr Katie Meheux.

For today's Women's History Month podast I had the great pleasure of chatting death, bones & cross stitch with PhD student Marion Davidson.  We also discussed Marion's background in dance (in New York) and her amazing research, and commitment to getting staff and students undetaking yoga on Teams during lockdown. 


Marion Davidson is current PhD candidate in Forensic Anthropology at UCL. With an interdisciplinary approach, she is a student at both the Institute of Archaeology and the Department of Security and Crime Science. Her research interests include ancestry estimation, 3D virtual bone models, the role of the expert, decision-making, and cognitive bias. Outside of academia, she likes to dance, read, watch horror movies, cuddle with her cat, and cross-stitch inappropriate words.

Archaeologists from UCL's Archaeology South-East recently found the possible remains of the Red Lion Playhouse, the earliest purpose-built playhouse in London. Emily talks to Stephen White, the archaeologist leading the excavations at Whitechapel Central, about the excavation, what evidence there is for the playhouse, and what work is still to be done as we move into the next phase of the analysis!

Today Charlotte meets up (virtually) with Prof Mike Parker Pearson, possibly best known for his work at Stonehenge, Charlotte & Mike chat about life outside the stones from his time as an undergraduate at Southampton University to present day life as a Professor of British Later Prehistory at the UCL Institute of Archaeology.  They also discuss Mike's most influential piece of writing...Enjoy!
