After releasing his debut single via UK taste-maker electronic label Black Butter, which went on to receive extensive airplay on all BBC Stations in the UK and support throughout Europe, the Swedish singer, multi instrumentalist and producer went on to release the next single "Turn Around" via Italian electronic label Life & Death. The single, accompanied by the original track "Boys & Girls" and remix by German producer duo Âme, soon made its way across dancelfoors and sets across the globe.

"In a lot of ways I escape in music," explains Sjodin. "It's a world where I feel home, where life is quite easy, where I can explore sides of me I didn't knew existed."

As the string-swept power balladry of "Tough Love" bleeds into the beatific melodrama of last year's "Turn Around", the tense, slow-burning summit of "Sweat" rises. The latter is Sailor & I's latest deep cut, the lead-off listen from an EP that also manages to turn a classic Joy Division track ("Disorder") on its head. Faithfully mind you, as a blank, drum-less canvas is coated in cold-pressed keys and a strictly '80s setup.

"I'm a bit terrified by the force of music," explains Sjodin, "and what it turns me into in the long run. Will it slow down eventually or will it go the other direction and make me insane? I have no idea, but I feel that it’s very important to keep exploring what is behind those invisible doors."

The very first release will include tracks from Einmusik, Pete Oak, and Third Son himself, all named ‘Genus'. The Polymath concept will ask different artists to create pieces inspired by their perception of a singular theme with three artists each contributing a production under the same track name. We're very excited today to present the edition provided by Blindfold Recordings chief Pete Oak.

Over the years, Berlin has been cited as Oliver Koletzki’s main point of reference and, more importantly, his endless source of inspiration. His albums Großstadtmärchen and Großstadtmärchen 2 are wholehearted tributes of the German capital, as its importance is continuously hinted and charted.  Friedrichshain, one of Berlin’s vibrant districts, has always held a special place in Oliver’s heart. This is where he started out when he first moved to the city, and this is where he lives now. Kreuzberg’s wall paintings adorn Stil Vor Talent ’s cover sleeves and host their headquarters. There are little to no corners in the city that haven’t brought a spark of inspiration into the mix. The Schneeweiss compilation series, now at its seventh installment, is built as a form of tribute to all these particles, tied in together into a series of carefully curated tracks. Each compilation stands at the intersection of the musical and cultural surroundings most prominent of their respective times, acting both as a reminder as well as a timeless sound capsule for the years to come.

Alberto Iovine and Alessandro Fumagalli aka Modular Project announce the launch of their new label, in partnership with Rebirth Records.
 
Born and raised between Como and Milan, Alberto and Alessandro quickly shared their love for electronic music and the great passion for vintage synths and drum machines. They started to produce together in 2012 and released on labels like OFF, Moodmusic and Perpetualis Music before joining Rebirth in 2017 with their remix of the Blond:ish classic ‘Wizard Of Love’.

The 002 is Modular Project’s first production on the label. ‘Andromeda’ is an hypnotic journey through shades of indie electronica, new wave and their signature sounds. The package comes with two strong remixes from Nhar and Tom Peters.

As the New Year opens its doors on 2018, full of hope and promise, Proton Music uncovers another gem from the jewel-encrusted rock face of underground dance music. A beautifully polished sound now sees newcomer, Rudy, sparkle and shine with his "Time / Spirit" EP.

An artist who made an instant splash with his debut release on Subjekt Recordings, Brighton based producer, Rudy Dubé, scored an instant hit from his base on the English south coast with "Transformation". Released with remixes from fellow south coast resident and global star, Kris Davis, alongside Berlin based icon, Martin Roth, Rudy hit the ground at quite a pace in mid-2016.

Going on to release "Monday" on Chouette Music in late-2016, the "Qualia" EP for Los Angeles based imprint, Oleeva Records in May 2017 showcased Dubé's penchat for Deep House as the track lit up the scene, also appearing on James Warren's "Visceral" compilation series. With his flair for blending rhythm and melody in exciting and innovative fashion, a further remix for Nie Wieder Schlafen saw a sublime interpretation of Quatri's "Ozora" that hit the number one spot in "Proton Pack 149". A subsequent debut on Proton Music then saw Rudy taking on David Calo's techno monster, "Chronomatic" in December 2017.

Now Rudy returns to the label with a wonderful triptych that epitomises his unique and compelling sound. Opener, "Sea Change" hypnotises with its strong kick backbone and evolving arpeggio line that shimmers in delayed glory. A whispering hi-hat shuffle emerges at the mid-point while a rich sub-bass fills the low-end and rasping analogue bass stab commanding attention with its Moog-like characteristics. A beautiful organ interlude sees creates an intelligent pause in proceedings before arps and rhythm combine once more in the final movement.

The strong rhythmic qualities of its predecessor are fully to the fore in "Time" as a complex percussive cadence supplies the framework for a collage of sublime melodies and chord progressions to float effortlessly across a seven-minute voyage. Contemplative in tone, the track title is well-suited to the musical narrative held within. Capped by a trademark warm, rasping bassline. Rudy's skill and craft is in full evidence.

The final offering sees, "Spirit" take centre-stage with its elegant and free-flowing melodies and storming bass line. Fully reminiscent of the Moog-inspired work of Stephan Bodzin's "Powers of Ten", the beautifully crafted bass-lead supplies an astounding work that could have been crafted by the legend himself. The soaring strings and chord progressions add further depth and texture as a driving beat and triplet shakers create a genuine sense of dynamism.

Firmly on the underground map with his stunning brand of music, Rudy has the "Time" and "Spirt" to succeed at the very highest level.

French house DJ-producer Kulkid and rising vocalist Kaleena Zanders have teamed up for a compelling collaboration titled 'Skyline'. Produced during a road trip through US national parks, the track conveys the excitement of travel and the raw beauty of nature. Kaleena Zanders brings the cherry on the cake with her warm and soulful voice, delivering a powerful and sentimental dimension to the song.

Kaleena Zanders had this to say on the new track: "While staying completely original, Kulkid's production in "Skyline" embodies the energy and feel of artist such as Lane 8, The Magician, Amtrac & Kidnap.  Coming from a background in vocal soul house, I felt it would be unique to show more emotion in my writing and vocal performance on a beautiful track like this."

Kaleena Zanders recently joined Mixmag, AKG and a team of exceptional artists for a wholly unique electronic music retreat in Woodstock, New York. With an emphasis on seclusion and artistic solidarity, Zanders reflected on her love of improvisation and joined some talented producers in the studio to provide powerful vocals over their tunes.
