Udan Tashtri is a desi prog rock act that brings together influences from prog metal, psycedelic ,ambient textures and 60s -70s acid jazz wrapped with vocals inspired from bollywood melodies. .

the band is a celebration about how beautifully this system works inspite of the contradictions,ironies, confusion and all the questions that remain unanswered. Its a take on how we continuously mix and create new cultures rendering the notion of past practices outdated & irrelevant

The band was formed by Siddharth and Akshat (guillotine, faridkot) who played in a metal band called Arcane Deception but were evolving musically sharing similar taste in music inspired from the new wave of electronic music yet keeping the old school feel of rock music. The duo decided to jam out musical ideas and brought on board Anshuman Mishra (escher's knot, third sovereign) on guitars, Abhinav Chaudhary(the circus) on bass. After trying out a couple of vocalists they decided Abhishek Shankar as the best fit for handling the vocal duties

The live act is an energetic show with new soundscapes backed by powerful grooves to get the party rolling. Its a non stop musical journey with extended impromptu jams that can run for 1 and half hours.

The band is currently working on a 6 track album and a video pepped of release by summer 2015. The band's single 'fatti kameez' has been covered by rolling stones magazine calling it a psyched out single.
