As the founder of Transensations Records and a member of Proton’s curatorial team, he curates sounds as carefully as he creates them — ensuring his sets and radioshows carry exclusivity and vision. Its been a whirlwind year so far for new SCI+TEC signing Fabio Florido. As one of the new wave of M_nus artists, he was chosen by Richie Hawtin to spin at some of the recent PLAYdifferently Mixer launch parties, including May’s live Boiler Room. Since then he’s squeezed in a quickfire tour of South America, completed an upcoming Ep for Pig&Dan’s ELEVATE imprint and put the finishing touches to his much anticipated SCI+TEC debut.

Fabio opens the release with Umeshu Drunkard, a heady concoction of lashing cymbles, twitching snare and marching bass. All topped with a dizzying melodic garnish. Intoxicating stuff from the Italian.

Title track Ascendent hits hard with its thumping kickdrum, sturdy groove and bubbling acid line. A mean, motoring track and, together with its predecessor, one that furthers Fabio’s rise to the top.

The dynamic Berlin duo, better known as The Reason Y, return to Second State with a brand new EP entitled 'Density'. After last years debut, the duo have been working tirelessly to deliver a massive three tracker and they have managed to do just that as well as locking in heavy hitter Nick Curly for a stellar remix to guarantee a monumental record. Opening things up is the title track 'Density' and it certainly delivers the trademark TRY sound with crisp, racing hi-hats and low rumbling bass. As signals of bold sirens resonate through fields of sonic indulgence, the duo commandeer a journey into cosmic spaces. Followed by 'Sunwaves' which is the duo's ballad to the Romanian festival they first played last summer.  Laced with grooving low end and sun drenched atmospherics, 'Sunwaves' is the aural illustration of exactly what you would expect from one of the world's finest festivals where the water meets the dance floor on an exotic Romanian beach. On the flip side, the duo take a step back and drop the heady down-tempo number 'Whisper' where percussive grooves fill the blank silent palette as washes of mischievous pads create the feeling of being lost deep in the jungle while a whispering voice guides the listener towards some vacant hope of finding a native estate. To wrap things up, we turn to the one and only Nick Curly for his twist on ‘Whisper’, and in true Curly fashion he delivers a bomb. Swirling tones are draped over an infectiously loopy groove as surges of white noise grow, constantly taking the levels of energy to new heights while the original vocal is brought to the front to ensure a trippy trek into the grandiose areas of late nights.
